Wow - I've owned many hairdryers in this price range, most recently a Babyliss tourmaline that just died and an Elchim before that. I took a chance on this when the Babyliss broke and I wanted something with at least 2,000 watts that was also a ceramic tourmaline dryer. There is absolutely no contest between this and the others I have had over the years. Not only can it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok For Home Use Not For Work
I bought this hair dryer about 4 months ago. The reason I bought it was because of all the great reviews and the price wasn't bad. This is an ok dryer for home use but as a hairstylist and using it all day everyday it's not a good choice. The buttons are in a HORRIBLE place I'm always turning it off while in the middle of a blow dry and I've already had the lint vent on...

Not only can it dry my thick, coarse, wavy/frizzy hair fast, but it gets it poker straight - no flat ironing needed. And as advertised, it looks and feels silky and shiny. No other hair dryer has ever performed so well on these two points. Prior to using this only my hairdresser could get my hair this straight just by blowdrying. In fact I think she has used this model on me before. It is advertised as salon quality - which in part means meant for heavy duty use. Essential for me as I usually wash my hair every day and I have to blow dry it.

The Speed Freak also seemed to lock out the humidity after drying instead of frizzing out five minutes after the blowout was finished. Mine came boxed with a free paddle brush, which felt worlds better on my scalp than the one I've been using for a while now. What a great buy. Not a lightweight dryer though, but not too heavy. I would highly recommend. Other huge plus includes heat and power settings that are not up and down switches as on most other dryers, but horizonal wheels that securely clicks your chosen settings in to place, so they won't accidentally get changed or switch the dryer off as often happens on other dryers with the old up and down switches. A superb product.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST DRYER!, August 18, 2010

I got this dryer as a replacement for another dryer by Rusk that broke while in warranty. I hated to send that one back because it was so amazing. The part I needed which was just the back filter piece was unavailable because they had replaced that one with the Speed Freak. The lady there assured me that I would LOVE this dryer. She was very excited about. Soooo, I got the dryer and I am IN LOVE. I have had this dryer for years now and it has not skipped a beat. I use it about twice a week. What is does for my hair is amazing. I did not REALLY appreciate it as much until I was forced to use someone else's dryer while out of town. NO COMPARISON. You will not be disappointed in this dryer. It never dries my hair out and works fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Speed Freak It IS..., October 7, 2007
Wow. This blow dryer is awesome. It cut my time drying my hair almost in half. It is alot quieter than other dryers and left my hair silky soft and smooth. I would highly recommend this product. My hair is natural curly and this dryer tamed it easily.

I'm not big into hair styling. I have two jobs and just wear my hair in a bun all the time. Sometimes I take last second showers and like to have it dry a bit before putting it up. This dryer is great since it's fast and leaves my hair looking healthier than other driers. My mom uses a hair dryer everyday and she uses this one now and is very excited about it. It looks and feels great and the cool setting feels like AC. I just got two new brushes because I feel inspired by this great product to finally try something new.

5.0 out of 5 stars hairdryer replacement, March 24, 2009
I bought this exact hairdryer 3 or 4 years ago and LOVED it. Recently it started to get overheated easily. I have to dry my hair on the highest heat for it to actually get straight and that started to overheat the hair dryer. I didn't want to spend the money on a new one, but I get so much use out of it I decided to suck it up and just replace it.
It was great to find it here on Amazon for cheaper than what I paid in the salon the first time around.

The dryer is fantastic - dries hair quickly, and hair seems much more manageable!

The only negatives are that it is a bit loud and a bit heavy.

The Speed Freak 2000 Hair Dryer is the best one I have ever had.
It dries hair quickly without drying out the roots and ends.
The hair dryer also feels good to hold.

The buttons are in a HORRIBLE place I'm always turning it off while in the middle of a blow dry and I've already had the lint vent on the back break off, not to mention it's way to heavy to work with. I've had just about every brand dryer and this is by far my least favorite.
