Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

A thoughtful gift for any tea enthusiast, this three-piece tea set includes an electric kettle, a glass carafe, and a warming tray that keeps hot beverages at an ideal serving temperature. The kettle's 1500-watt concealed heating element quickly brings up to 1-2/3 liters of water to a roiling boil. Simply fill the kettle at the sink using the water-level indicator to gauge how much, return it to the power base, plug it in, and flip the illuminated on/off power switch to the "on" position. In a matter of minutes, hot water will be ready to use for anything from tea, instant coffee, and hot cocoa to oatmeal, instant soup, baby formula, and more. The cordless kettle lifts off its power base for graceful pouring without the hassle of a cord and can be returned at any angle--great for both left- and right-handed users. When making tea, add hot water from the kettle to the glass carafe, which comes with a tea-steeping case that accommodates both loose-leaf and bagged teas. For safety and peace of mind, the kettle turns off automatically once the water starts to boil or if it gets turned on without water. The thoughtfully designed kettle also provides an easy-to-open hinged lid, heat-resistant plastic housing, a removable filter for better-tasting water, a generous handle, and a drip-free spout. With its elegant, curvy design and convenient cord storage in the base, the three-piece tea set measures approximately 15-1/5 by 8-1/2 by 9-1/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars I forget the water is boiling when the phone rings, March 11, 2008

I like the description, "High-tech teatime. This heated tray ensures tea that's fresh and easy-to-serve with a cordless kettle and carafe combination that keeps beverages at the perfect just-brewed temperature. Simply boil water in the electric kettle and create the perfect brew in the clear glass carafe." I have a home office and when I boil water on the stove and the phone rings, I sometimes forget to turn it off. Before something terrible happened I decided to buy an automatic teapot. I bought the Breville stainless steel for a friend who can taste plastic when boiling water. The Breville is one of the best teapots. For me the Russell Hobbs teapot tray with infuser and pitcher was the best value solution. I use a lot of loose tea and the infuser is great. The teapot works great and the heater on the tray works very well too. I bought this from Macy's on sale for $34.

What else can I say, the water gets hot and turns off automatically. I don't think the heater tray turns off automatically.

I bought this over a year and a half ago, on sale. I was tired of coming home from work exhausted and only wanting a cup of tea to relax, then having to wait an age for the kettle to come up to boiling on the stove. This little kettle set does the trick! It brings the water to a boil very quickly. The auto shut-off feature is very nice in case you do happen to get distracted by something. The glass teapot has a nice metal infuser that sits down inside and it goes from top to bottom so there is lots of room for the loose tea to really have room to brew. The metal mesh is fine enough to contain loose tea nice and snug, so you don't get floaters like you do with many of the plastic infusers. The infuser also has a little handle that lifts up so you don't burn your fingers when you're lifting it out of the pot after the brewing is done! There is a seperate heater to keep your perfectly brewed tea piping hot so you're ready for a refill whenever you need it. I have not had any trouble with my set at all. I simply tap the used loose tea out into the trash, then rinse it under running water and let it air dry until I'm ready for the next brewing. I do clean the kettle twice a year with CLR followed by three scalding hot water rinses since I live in an area where the water is pretty hard, so we tend to get mineral build up inside kettles, faucets, and the like. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who loves a good cup of tea. If we were allowed to have something like this at our desk at work, I would own two of them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Never throw out cold tea again - great office tea machine, December 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Russell Hobbs RHTT8W 1-2/3-Liter Electric Kettle with Glass Carafe and Tea Tray (Kitchen)
The presence of this machine on my desk is the best thing about getting to work.

I drink a lot of tea. The hot water at my work comes from one of those red-handled little hot water taps protruding from the front of a coffee machine - it tastes a little funny (I drink my tea black so I taste the water) and just isn't hot enough for making proper black tea. My intention was to buy a kettle and a USB plate to keep my cup of tea warm . . . then I found this. Hallelujah! The cordless kettle is what you'd expect (it boils water), the little teapot pours beautifully without spills and that magical little hot plate keeps the tea in the kettle PERFECTLY hot! I can return after an hour and my tea is so hot you wouldn't know it wasn't poured from the kettle seconds earlier. I can't tell you how happy that makes me. This is so much better than the USB warmer I intended to buy would have done, I'm sure. Plus, I'm going through my precious Irish tea much slower because, with this machine, I drink every drop I brew instead of throwing out a lot of cold tea. Aside from needing to turn off the hot plate at the end of the day, the only thing that would make this machine better would be if it brewed my tea on command and poured itself.

Before buying this machine I looked at numerous tea machines: the triniTea (BPA plastic, ugh!), Sanyo SAC-MST6 Coffee/Tea Maker and the zarafina. I thought I'd like a "teaWaker," but I don't find myself wishing for an alarm-clock triggered brew. Besides, even as a kid with a glass on my bedside table I thought leaving water out overnight makes it taste a little stale.
