Even if you don't know his name, you know Russell James. His photos have defined the look and feel of some of the most beautiful (pun intended;)) publications ever. Whether it's Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition, the Victoria's Secret catalog, or top models from around the world, James knows just how to capture form and beauty. In this wonderful collection, we're given a lot of that and loads of personal pictures, too: shots of Australia's Aboriginal peoples, stunning landscapes, and powerful portraiture combine in this meticulously printed volume to prove that Russell James is the heir apparent to the likes of Avedon and Bresson.

I had bought quite an amount of books from amazon over the past few months, including books from lebovitz, testino, avedon, besson, schatz, bourdin etc.... but this is simply my favourite. the pics inside are very inspiring and beautiful. quality paper was used. each pic will give u a very strong feeling.

he is definitely one of the best photographer in portrait shooting among the younger generation.

This is such a beautiful production. There is his commercial output spiced with some fabulous personal work in the "Nomads" section, and they mix well. Russell is deservedly one of the lauded shooters not only in Oz, but globally. Stands up there with Demarchlier and Knight as someone who can effortlessly cross boundaries between editorial and art

I guess black and white photos are more artsy than color, but here is something to consider. In this book there are about seven color photos and the rest are black and white. In contrast to the cover, there are photos that have nothing to do with beautiful women but are downright ugly. It took a lot of genius but he managed the impossible...he made some of the most beautiful women in the world appear drab, dark and depressing. I bought it because of the cover, which is very misleading. Gisele appears only once in the whole book, twice if you count the cover. Her photo is why I bought the book. Very disappointing and very expensive.

This book is insanely big..my shelves might collapse ! Anyway this is my favorite photography book. I have way too many, but this one is the best. The fashion section with the color photography is stunning. Simply put.. this is absolutely worth the hundred bucks.

In a cold evaluation, the book can look a little bit the same, but page by page (huge and richly printed), through stunning pictures, it`s easy conclude why Russell James is the master!!!
