My husband and I were recently buying a Jack Russell Terrier when I ran across this book by Don Rainwater. We read it and decided that we are definately getting that dog after all. Not only that but we are going to keep this book on our nightstand for future reference. We are not sure if this was someones way of confirming our purchase! Great read Don!

I am a dog lover so I purchase a variety of books pertaining to many breeds. I had not read about the "Jack Russell" breed before so I picked up this book by Don Rainwater; what a great decision!

Mr. Rainwater has included everything you would need to know about Jack Russells. I never realized just how pleasant a pet they can be. They are known to be show dogs but yet are a wonderful pet.

I would suggest this book to anyone interested in owning a Jack Russell, or, like me, anyon curious about the breed. The author did a fine job!

This book provides a wealth of information about Jack Russell Terriers. Through this book you will learn about the dog's history, breeding, training, showing ability and much more! In terms of style, the book is a very easy read. There is no fluff or filler writing; everything is concise and to-the-point. Indeed, this book is a must-have for anyone contemplating on getting this particular breed.

I'm another one of those people who fell in love with the breed and acquired one before I knew enough about it. Poor Rocco lasted 2 weeks in our home before he had alienated every member of the family including our 12 year old Golden Retriever who loves everybody! This book would have not only given me the knowledge I needed, but the author gives a lot of straightforward information on whether the Jack Russell is the best choice for you. Mr. Rainwater has made this book very informative and a very enjoyable read.

Excellent Book!!! Anyone considering buying this breed of dog MUST buy this book. Extremely informative, well-written, organized and interesting. There should be a book just like this one written for every breed of dog. And future pet owners should read them. Then there wouldn't be so many dogs abandoned and given up for the ASPCA. This book presents the information a future pet owner can use to decide whether or not this breed will fit into the family.

I was thrilled to find that this book had a wealth of information about Jack Russell Terriers. I learned about their moods, their energy levels, how to train and care for a Jack Russell, and what to look for when looking at the breed or picking out a puppy. I feel much more informed and am better prepared now for when we do bring our new canine companion home. I highly recommend this book.

This is a great book to have for those who are considering a Jack Russell and even those who already have this breed of dog. The book is easy to follow and read and gives many tips on training, dealing with behavior issues and also for simply handling life with a Jack Russell. It is always important to do research before getting a particular breed of dog, and this is a good place to start. For those who already have a Jack Russell, this would be great to keep around. It'd be a great gift for Jack Russell owners, too, as these dogs can be quite challenging at times.

A very well written book that is both easy and fun to read!

This is a must read for anyone that owns, or is considering owning a Jack Russell terrier. I learned so much new information from this book. I would feel completely comfortable getting a Jack Russell now with the great things I have learned. Usually a book about a certain dog breed is very generic and could be used for any breed. This is not the case with this book. There is so much information tailored to the Jack Russell it is worth every bit of the price.

Don and Kellie Rainwater's book on Jack Russell Terriers really tells it like it is from the abounding energy to the moods of the breed. This is a no holes barred discussion of the cute breed and why so many end up in a animal shelter because of the misunderstanding of these lovable dogs.

After reading their book you'll know if this is the breed for you and your family. Training and care is explained and how-to pick out a pup. This is written from the viewpoint of people with experience with Jack Russel Terriers as pets and not just from research or what a breeder thinks.

A friend of mine bought a Jack Russell as a Christmas present for his wife, and both of them were taken aback by the puppy's boundless energy and strong personality. They fell in love with him right away, but were at their wit's end on how to deal with him.
I browsed the net, came across this book by Don Rainwater, and recommended it to them. My friend bought the book, and a little more than a month later he commented to me just how much this book had helped him and his wife adjust to life with their "new family member". My friend told me that every dog breed should come with a book like this one!
I borrowed it and read it with my daughter shortly thereafter, and we were surprised at how much there is to know about Jack Russells. Hats off to the author on thorough and well written book.
