I just ordered this book on Amazon, since I will be going on exchange in Russia for half a year and wanted a glimpse into the Russian culture and customs. This was a very good book, and it didn't take long to finish it. It had a lot of very useful information that you have to know if you are going to go for dinner at a russian home or you want to understand for example why Russians don't smile in the street. This understanding will be good so you wont at first glimpse think that Russians are rude and unfriendly. Definitely recommend it as an invaluable book to read before going to Russia (also recommend culture shock Russia, but this was a quicker read)

I like this book because it has lots of important information to help with planning a trip to Russia. It also gives numerous telephone numbers, addresses, and web information to locate various places.

My husband and I bought this book originally because we are planning on adopting a child from Russia and wanted to make sure we knew as much as possible about customs, and such prior to leaving the US, it has lots of good information.
