This review is from: Russian Armour Volume 4: T-34 Medium Tank (1939-1943) (Paperback)
Not ready to drop the motherload on one of the larger encyclopedia style references on the T-34, I sprung less than $20 for this book and was rewarded for my frugality. This is a great little book, that is crammed full of period photos and is very readable. It covers development from the earlier russian tanks (which like the US Christie Tank, could run on tracks or just the wheels)to the A34 then the T34, covering the 76mm gun variants and the rare 57mm HV gun. It also cover some variants such as flamethrower, mine roller and others. It does not go into the later war 85mm variants, but they do warrant their own book, as it would double the size of this work to include them. The only thing I would like to have seen are some more line drawings or such to help illustrate the production variations by the different factories. They cover the Turrets but not much of the other details, which area big deal among the historians and modellers. You can see lots of the changes in the pics but they are not outlined in the text. This could be more info than would fit in this book, but I think a little more would have been a big help.
