This book is a must if you do not speak Russian,
By A Customer
This review is from: Russian Phrasebook: A Rough Guide Phrasebook (Phrase Book, Rough Guide) (Russian Edition) (Paperback)
This book saved me many times in Moscow. I had no idea, before my trip, how few people there actually spoke any English. When I arrived for my two week trip, it quickly became apparent that a book like this was not only a good idea, it was mandatory. The best thing about this book is, unlike others, it has Russian words and phrases transliterated. In other words, by reading Russian words in English, you can make yourself understood in Russian. My only complaint is that there are too few words in this book. A book triple this size would be even better. Even so, it covers most situations in a basic, but understandable manner. I recommend this book to anyone who travels to Russia and who does not speak, and who especially does not read, the Russian language.

Of four phrase books I have, this is the best. Keep in mind a phrase book will never cover all situations. This and the pocket Oxford cover 90% of my needs when communicating in Russian (verbal or written). (I would rate my Russian at 1, maybe 1.5 out of 5)
