Terms of Endearment in Russion,

I have been listening to this cd in the car for about a month and feel like I have really learned a lot of phrases that will help me in my upcoming adoption. I find I am practicing these phrases at odd times...but they have really stuck. These phrases have stuck much better than the other Russian programs I am working through right now. How wonderful to know how to call your daughter beautiful and to tell her you will love her forever. A lot of more practical phrases as well.

We are adopting from Eastern Europe, and needed something to help us communicate with our son when we travel to meet him and bring him home. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The cd includes both a male and female native speaker; the phrasebooks (which are small and great for travel) include both the phonetic and cyrillic spelling of the phrases and words. The content includes everything we'll want to tell / ask our son in the first few days that we're trying to communicate - from "I love you"... to "this is your new room"... to "don't be afraid" ... "are you thirsty?" Even my 4-year-old and 5-year-old daughters are repeating the words and phrases. We highly recommend this for English-speaking families adopting or hosting Russian-speaking children.

Excellen for Ukraine adoptionalso,
This review is from: Russian Phrases for Children - An Adoption Language Tool for English Speaking Parents (2 phrase books + audio CD) (Paperback)
Used this when I taught myself Russian before we went to Ukraine to adopt. Most of Ukraine still speaks Russian and I knew this before we went to adopt our kids. The most important phrase is "spakoina noch, ya tibia lublu" Good night I love you...we still use each night before bed.

A Must if You're Adopting from Russia,

This review is from: Russian Phrases for Children - An Adoption Language Tool for English Speaking Parents (2 phrase books + audio CD) (Paperback)
This is the best book/cd set if you're planning to adopt from Russia or Kazakhstan! You don't have to wade through the "touristy-type" phrase books or the more difficult "academic" books. If you ARE pursuing an international adoption, you don't have TIME to become a Russian linguist! This set is perfect: the phrases you'll need without all of the "fluff" plus the author sends TWO books with the CD so you and your spouse can each study on your own. My wife impressed our Russian hosts on our first trip with how well she was able to speak common phrases. A great product at any price. I'm so grateful to the author for producing this set.

Excellent for adoptive families,
This review is from: Russian Phrases for Children - An Adoption Language Tool for English Speaking Parents (2 phrase books + audio CD) (Paperback)
I would highly recommend this product to anyone adopting from a Russian speaking country. The product comes with 2 pocket size phrase books (which is great for each spouse to have one) and an audio cd.
Is is full of very useful phrases and words for the adoptive family. We haven't traveled yet but I have no doubt this book will be coming with us! We had purchased a general Russian travel phrase book, but that really isn't any help when it comes to the things you really want to communicate to a child. This book does! I ordered it on a Saturday, it was shipped Monday and arrived at my home on Wednesday. Very quick service! The cd case was broken, but the cd was fine.

I ordered this product after the frustration of working with more touristy language learning systems. Russian is hard to learn and right now I need to focus on learning to communicate with our child. This is a great product because it gives you the basics necessary for communicating with your child. The only downfall is that it goes by fast. Each word or phrase is only said two times and then moves on to the next word. I enjoy the phrase book that came with the CD, and think it will be very useful during our travels.

I LOVE this little booklet! I'm in the process of adopting a little girl from Russia, and have purchased several copies of this, one for my car, one for my house, one for my MP3, and two others because I LOST the first three CD's!! I'd recommend for anyone adopting or even thinking of traveling to Russia. To the authors - SPASIBO (thank you!!)

I traveled in March 2007, to bring my then 8 yo daughter home this cd was a blessing, I used the the book and cd before traveling learned enough to get my point across, I gave her the cd when we were on our way home it helped her with the Russian to english and she was speaking fluent english in 6 months. Now we are on the road to adoption again, unfortunatly cd was broke so we will be buying a new on for the 3 yo we are in the process of bring home as a refresher and maybe to help his transition
