The CD needs an editor,

The CD badly needs an editor. Unless you're going to learn Russian in a single sitting, you'll need to listen to the CD multiple times. The narrator's annoying statements of the obvious in English will drive you up the wall after the first time through.
Later: There's also some linguistic malpractice in the phrases. The annoying English narrator isn't translating the actual Russian words, merely repeating the general intended use of the phrase. E.g., what she says is "I don't speak much Russian" is actually "I speak Russian badly," which may or may not be what you want to say. |
