Informative and Interesting,
This review is from: Russian Trinity - Three Institutions That Shook The World [VHS] (VHS Tape)
As someone who earned their Master's in Russian Studies, I can confidently say that this video is informative and interesting. It is a fascinating look at the ways in which Lenin and Stalin influenced three key areas of the Soviet Union: the Kremlin, the Bolshoi Theatre, and the Lubianka prison (including the GULAG prison system). It uses plenty of newsreel/documentary footage and propaganda from the era to recreate the times. It also has many personal interviews with people who lived through and survived the Stalinist era; particularly powerful and moving is the interview with a GULAG survivor, Lev Razgon. I highly recommend this video to those who want to learn more about the ways that Lenin, and especially, Stalin, were able to control their nation by using both propaganda and terror.
