From Scientific American

A comprehensive and well-written layperson's guide....Charts, diagrams, appendixes and a good index make this a valuable purchase for all public libraries.

From The New Yorker

Considering the array of elements, both natural (snow, mud and rain) and manmade (acid rain, sulphur fallout and road salts), that are out to ruin your automotive pride and joy, Steven B. Joseph's book may be one of the most valuable tools in the battle against the rust demon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Hands-On Approach for Rust Erradication I've Found, June 13, 2000
This review is from: Rust: How to Keep It from Destroying Your Car (Paperback)
It's a simple yet common story...

I love my Vintage Truck, and hated seeing it slowly dying of the common cancer we call RUST. I've combed libraries, bookstores, retail and wholesale outlets...and found ONE book that I really found worth owning. I give this review as a tribute to the author as gratitude for the common-sense info and product information he researched into his book. He must have a love for some old auto like I do.

The book is a medium to small sized paper-back. I would rate it's content-to-size as richly packed with information for such a modest and portable size. The explanations, concepts, "How-to's", and retailer contact information were very well balanced. Additionally, products and application techniques were showcased, that were EXCELLENT, and rarely discussed elsewhere.

I have a RUST-FREE truck now. And every auto I purchase will be spared the ugly and slow cancer we call rust. It's a small investment, for such a rewarding read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on automotive rust, June 21, 2011

This review is from: Rust: How to Keep It from Destroying Your Car (Paperback)
Although a bit dated now, this is by far the best book on automotive rust. Whether your interest is preventive or restorative, whether you are looking for a body shop or going to do it yourself, this is the place to start. After you read it, you'll know what you want to do, and can research it on the Web, order catalogs, etc.
This is apparently the author's only book. An update would be wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rust: How to keep it from Destroying your car, February 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rust: How to Keep It from Destroying Your Car (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I have ever seen on preventing rust in Automobiles. It examines many products, explanes how they work or don't and basicly tells you the value of the attempt.

It does not go into much details of anode and cathode use, dielectric action, stray electrical currents, or the math need to make it work right. That stuff is best left for engineers with Graduate degrees working for utility companys.

This is a must buy for anyone who feels they want to keep their car forever!
