3.0 out of 5 stars Fine for small decorative applications
I purchased this product on a recommendation from a local big box home improvement store. My project was to create a frosted/etched glass look on my glass shower door. I would not recommend that you use this product for any large applications such as an entire window or door. It is very difficult to produce an even looking coat, and the product comes off very easily...

This review is from: Rust-Oleum 1903830 Frosted Glass 11-Ounce Spray, Frosted Glass (Tools & Home Improvement)
This product works as promised - however there is a bit of streaking, if you really look at it. Not really noticeable for most things(ie. windows) - but kinda noticeable on my glass coffee table.

**Tips on application**
(1) The glass has to be vertical (ie on the door or piece put up against a wall) for this product to work properly - otherwise it will get really bad streaks (I learned the hard way with horizontal glass pieces)
(2) You really have to make sure the spray is within 10"-12" of the surface - if its too close, you will get streaks, if its too far away the spray particles will partially solidify before making contact with the glass, and brush off like dust.
(3) Spray with overlap and slowly, When doing a continuous spray, perform the turns off the glass (and onto the masked/paper off sides) - so you don't get "spots" on the edges.
(4) If you still have noticeable streaks after a 3rd pass, don't try to fix it - it will most likely get worse if attempting to fix it
(5) If you mess up, it cleans off with water and some paper towels and bit of elbow grease....if you can, let the water soak for 10 minutes or so, then wipe hard....

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!, January 21, 2011
This review is from: Rust-Oleum 1903830 Frosted Glass 11-Ounce Spray, Frosted Glass (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've read several reviews from more than one site on this product; some good, some not so good. So I decided to give it a try. Although I also purchased a roll of window film because I just couldn't decide. Needless to say once my husband and I discussed our options we went with the spray (mostly because it seemed like the process would be much easier not to mention 5-6 times cheaper). And to my surprise it worked perfectly. I made sure the glass was clean and dry, I shook the can several times before I sprayed it. It dried evenly with no streaks. There were just a few open spots so I sprayed another coat after allowing the first coat to dry for awhile - and it was perfect! I was so excited with results on the front door, I used it on the top and bottom of my three window pane back door. I will be returning the expensive window film.... Thank you Rust-Oleum for such an awesome and affordable product. Now the test will be to see how long the finish will actually last. I'll keep you posted (^_^)

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks great! Exactly what I expected, January 3, 2011
This review is from: Rust-Oleum 1903830 Frosted Glass 11-Ounce Spray, Frosted Glass (Tools & Home Improvement)
My light fixture turned out beautiful using this frosting!

I read these reviews before I bought this stuff, and was a bit nervous, since many people complained about it appearing "streaky" or "uneven." After trying it for myself, it seems any undesireable results were probably caused by user error. If it's not applied meticulously, sure, it will look bad -- but that applies to any DIY project, ESPECIALLY spray paint. I applied 4 very light, even coats to my glass at about 5 minute intervals, and it looks amazing! I even scraped my fingernail over the corner to check its durability, and the frost passed my test with flying colors -- no scrape, scratch or peeling at all.

If you have a steady hand and an eye for detail, you should have no problem using this stuff. I'm sure it's not very forgiving of mistakes during application, but if you're careful, you'll be very happy with this product!

I purchased this product on a recommendation from a local big box home improvement store. My project was to create a frosted/etched glass look on my glass shower door. I would not recommend that you use this product for any large applications such as an entire window or door. It is very difficult to produce an even looking coat, and the product comes off very easily. I followed the instructions that said I could wipe down the applied area with soap and water, and when I did this it took off some of the application. If you are making temporary decorative snowflakes on the windows for the holidays, this will work great, but I would think twice before using it on a project that requires a larger application.

For windows or shower doors I would recommend using the Avery Etchmark vinyl product. After some learning about application techniques, I ended up with a beautiful shower door that has a professional etched glass look. One very important tip for applying Etchmark. Use a spray bottle to apply a good amount of water over the application surface, place your Etchmark in postion on the surface, and then use your vinyl squeegee to smooth out the vinyl and get the water out. I did not get professional looking results without the water.

So we converted a regular sized window to a bathroom window and the contractor frosted one of the two panes of glass. But, this wasn't enough for privacy in the city, so I sprayed about 8 layers on. I gave about 10 minutes between each layer. I noticed that it's best to spray about 6 inches from the glass for the most desired translucence. After one smelly night the paint smells cleared and the window is much better for privacy. Occasionally the paint will flake but this was our easiest and least expensive option for privacy.

Our front door has a decorative ornament in between glass but if you get close to the door you can really see into the house - and I just don't like it at all.
I bought this spray and sprayed the glass from both inside and outside. It definitely doesn't block the sunlight and really gives me more privacy because now for sure, no one can see through the glass.

Just used this on a bathroom window. I used it according to directions and it looks beautiful. I think the key to good results are to spray quickly across, side to side. If you stay on one spot for more than a second you will probably get streaks. I suggest using some type of face protection because it does have a strong odor and may cause some nose & throat irritation in sensitive individuals. Highly recommended!

Got this a couple weeks ago, used it the second it came. It was so easy and gave the frosted look that I wanted. I had no problems with it. I listened to the instructions on the can and it worked perfectly. Giving it two coats with 10 minutes in between each coat!
