Even though the picture shows a regular paint can along a spray can, the one I received is the spray.

Used this to finish a thin board of MDF, 24 inches by 16 inches. After I was done, the spray was still going strong ; not sure how much was left though.

Applied first coat of Rustoleum "Chalk Board", then applied the second one an hour later. I let it dry for 24 hours, then used the side of a long chalk to cover the finish, then wiped it with a dry cloth. Beautiful black matte finish, I love it.

Note: Prior to applying this product, I did prepare the surface with 2 coats of primer, then sanded it. Despite the sanding, I can see on the finished surface the strokes of the brush I used. Just thought you might want to know if like me you decide to prepare your surface with a primer.

I spent hours and hours painting, sanding, and brushing on chalk paint - trying to make a framed chalk board. I simply could not get a smooth surface. Finally, after reading reviews, I ordered this can, sanded, sanded, sanded, and then sprayed. Perfect. Wish I had done that from the beginning. I just ordered another can and am about to start another project (something I never thought I would be doing after the last one). I definitely recommend it.

I used this paint to refresh an old chalkboard. It works great! I would highly recommend this to anybody who has an old chalkboard that's hard to write on.

I read a review of this product complaining about how the can malfunctioned and sprayed paint everywhere but I chose to look at that as an isolated incident. I was excited to try this product because I wasn't happy with the brush-on kind of chalkboard paint. I don't know what happened but as I started to open the cap the entire can began to spew black paint all over my kitchen and didn't stop until all of the paint was out. Luckily I was right by my sink so I was able to throw it in there quickly but not before my table, chairs, floor and myself were sprayed. Not to mention my sink which became entirely black.

The most distressing thing here was not the hours it took me to remove the paint off of the surfaces of my kitchen. For me it was the danger of all of the chemicals spewing into my kitchen that could have ignited. Granted, the warning DOES say not to spray in an area with a pilot light but I wasn't trying to spray the can near my stove! I was merely taking the cap off of the can. Lesson learned!

Luckily, the kitchen did not explode and most of the black paint came off easily with paint thinner.

Also, I used live chat to speak with amazon and was given a refund quickly. I love them! (This product can't be returned through the mail...not that there was anything left to return except a blackened can!)

I'm sure this product works well when given the chance but I won't be trying it again.

Purchased 2 cans to make a chalkboard out of a 2x3 picture frame. I painted several coats on a piece of particle board. It came out great! I have never used any other chalkboard paints... But, this stuff seemed to work as advertised!

It works great and I truly am now running around wondering what else I can chalk up lol. I can see the projects now!!

I used a whole can of this Chalkboard spray on a large frame that I was going to use in my daycare. After it has now dried and tried out, it was a complete waste of money and will have to order what I have used in the past, $4.00 brush on black chalkboard paint. The spray just did not work, hope this review helps you not make my mistake of loosing $$$$. My project of a simple chalkboard is costing me too much money...I TRIED the spray to save time - now I have wasted time and money - ;-(

This is a great product I have made a few chalkboard items so far and it is so simple. You really only need 1 coat of paint, but I used a 2nd to be safe. The chalk goes on and comes off easily and its a fun addition to any room.

Used this to repaint a green board off a Crayola easel for my son. Perfect. I did two coats just to be sure and let it sit overnight, the next day it was back on the easel and has been great ever since!

I see why this product is always sold out at my local Home Depot and Michaels Arts/Craft store. The application is easy and the chalkboard is ready to use next day. With one can I covered a 36x48 inch piece of particle board with several coats of paint edge-to-edge.
