Customer Reviews

No stainless steel look at all.
Imayqc
I ended up spraying over fridge and it looks more like stainless but still messy look.
emurph17
It came out looking dark grey, like duct tape or lead pencil.

Don't waste the $$. The container label reads: "Great for appliances, table tops and more, Made with real Stainless Steel"
The label also shows a refrigerator as the appliance most worthy of a facelift.
I tried this on my refrigerator. It sucked. The color was a flat dark grey. No stainless steel look at all. The product label recommends an additional product to enhance the look of stainless steel. Enhance a non-existent stainless steel look?

Go with Valspar's "Brilliant Metal" spray paint for the BEST look of stainless steel! I used it on my fridge and Holy Moly it was awesome.

I don't know why the previous poster thought the paint look dull grey but it definitely looks sparkly and fantastic on my previously white and black dishwasher. I applied two coats with a foam brush which gave me the brushed stainless look. The only thing that may enhance it is an enamel coat to give is the shiny factor but then you'd have to deal with finger prints all the time.

Also, it comes in a small can but it goes a long way and coats very thickly. No need to prime.

Needed two coats but it looks amazing! Used this on my stove hood when we bought a new stainless steel range and the old hood was a 1980s almond and black (ick!) but working fine. I taped over the black and the buttons and did two coats of this paint (you have to wait 24 hours between coats) and it looks so great, no one can believe its the same hood just painted. It isnt flat grey like another reviewer states, its sparkly and looks perfect. I made sure to shake the can really really well before each use. I wouldnt say it looks just like stainless steel but it looks like that faux stainless you see on lower end items trying to look like stainless. This is totally fine by me though, Im so happy with how it came out.

this product worked exactly as the directions stated. I ude a 3 inch foam roller to get a very smooth and no run finish. I would recommend this item to a friend

I used this to paint the doors of my fridge. Overall i didn't love this paint. First it took me three coats to get the color even. THen it was almost impossible to apply without getting lines from the roller. I had to buy a special (and expensive) roller for metallic paint to finally get it to even out. So it took about half the can for just the doors. The final result is nothing like stainless steel. All our other appliances are stainless and this isn't fooling anyone. Also the final finish is not shiny, at all. It's actually got a rough texture from the metallic flakes. I put 3 coats of water based poly (also rustoleum) to get to be smooth and somewhat shiny. The fridge doesn't look bad though. It looks much better than when it was white.

Like another view said, doesn't seem a whole lot different than other silver paints. Here is the problem, the little bits of stainless steel are too big. On the bright side, the color is pretty much correct. I painted a small piece of scrap and held it next to my stainless steel sink, and they were more or less the same color, but you could definitely tell one was painted, the other wasn't. I think that if Rustoleum were to reformulate with a finer steel power(something like talc or flour), where you couldn't see little sparkles, they would have a much better product.

Everything in my kitchen is black and stainless except for the big dorky white fridge! So I thought I'd give it a make-over with this stuff just so it wouldn't stick out as much. It turned out exactly how I expected it to and I really like it! I mean let's get real here, you have to know that an authentic stainless steel look isn't going to come out of a can, much less be painted on... but for what it's worth, it looks great! I did the sides of my fridge black and just the doors with the stainless paint. I would definitely suggest the 6" roller that says "better" on it from the Home Depot. I originally bought the 3" inch economy roller thinking a foam roller is a foam roller, but it's not! The smaller roller made tons of streaks after about 5 coats! Then with one pass of the 6" "better" roller, the streaks all disappeared and it looked amazing! If real stainless is what you want, this isn't for you. If you want to update your appliances for almost nothing, this is the way to go!
