This is a beautiful red and I used it on my engine to accent the spark wires, but this paint is definitely not up to 500 degrees... my engine without the heat shields gets up around 200 and the paint starts to burn off. so if your engine stays cool definitely worth it but if it gets any were near hot not worth it.

I bought this paint as part of a mini wsm smoker build. It was used as a base coat on the smoker which can see temps in the 350-400 range. The paint has been on the smoker since 10/1/2013 and I have not experienced any issues. The paint went on without any problems, dried quickly and looks good. I can't comment on how it would do on an engine, but it works great on bbq grills/smokers.

Great product, I actually had to paint something plastic and it did it's job had to do like 2 passes though but that was no big deal it worked as intended so I have no complaints but wear gloves when using this products it's very hard to take off your skin.

I was very surprised since the can of paint received (248957) was absolutely terrible, and am hoping it was only a bad batch. I've used Rust-Oleum products in the past without issue and was excited to try the 500 degree enamel. Regardless, since it is considered "hazardous" to ship it can not be returned to Amazon for a refund or exchange.

Basically, the paint took a few days to dry (not cure, DRY to the touch) in a 70+ degree room in non-humid Colorado. Initial instructions were followed to a "T", and the can was thoroughly shaken. For the second coat (after 72 hours), the instructions and proper prep work were also thoroughly performed (I have professionally painted cars in the past so know what is required for paint prep), however the second coat peeled & wrinkled almost instantly. One of the stabilizers or a curing agent must have been off in the mixture, and since Amazon will not allow me to exchange the item I have no plans to test this product further... especially after the days lost & many hours required to remove the faulty layers (which would be all since I don't trust any of them).

Update:
I called Rust-Oleum customer service to let them know of the issue, and they will be refunding my money. The rep I spoke to was very polite and we discussed all the steps taken during application, and he confirmed they were correct. Then he basically said "Oh, yeah, that sometimes happens even under ideal conditions." Not really something I wanted to hear with all of the extended time now involved to complete this project. He also added, "Now that sanding is required, you must wait a minimum of 48 hour between the sanding and the re-application coat(s)." I will probably take everything back down to bare and simply use another product. He did not ask to have the can returned for analysis, and he did not really have a good reason why the paint wrinkled after waiting 72 hours vs the recommended 48 hours that he kept quoting.

I bought this product to conceal several large chips to my Weber kettle BBQ top after it landed on my patio when I dropped it . The color did not quite match but was close enough to not stand out too much , the paint went on well and I did not need a second coat . The BBQ has been over 500 degrees and no problem to the paint . Next summer I think I will spray the whole top and it will look great again . Good product that stands up to so much heat and looks great .

Used this for a craft project as a clear coat and it worked well. I applied it outside but after drying when I brought items back inside they had a much less noticeable odor than other clear glaze spray paints I'd used in the past.

I thought this would be high enough heat for my bike's engine, no so much. I should have gotten the 1500 degree paint! Good paint though, would work well on a 4 stroke, or near warm spots (say the frame NEAR, not on, the exhaust pipe.)
