Color Name: Antique Pewter Verified Purchase
Rust-Oleum 7983955 Antique Pewter kit
Was going to use this kit to refinish a polished brass hanging lamp. Before doing so, I tried it out on a couple of samples - one was smooth the other had raised designs. The spray (Base) coat produced a nice smooth polished appearance on both samples. After the base coat dried (following the package instructions) and rubbing both samples with the sanding pad, the top coat was applied with a brush and wiped to produce the "desired" finish. The raised design sample produced an acceptable finish in that the top coat remained in the grooves as the highlights were wiped - thereby accentuating the design. However, the smooth sample retained obvious streaks and did not provide an appealing surface finish. Since the lamp was primarily made of smooth surfaces, I did not use this refinishing kit.

In reviewing the product box, it is noted that all of the sample photographs are of uneven surfaces and complex designs - perhaps this should have been an alert that this product is not suitable for smooth surfaces.

Color Name: Light Patina Verified Purchase
I deal with stained glass, and normally we use patina (liquid acid) to change the color of metal to what we need. I was dealing with a lamp repair that did not use patina, but rather a paint. The lamp was a $2500 all clear bevel lamp by Fredrick Ramond, and I had to match the color of the metal as I was only doing a repair on the lamp, and there was a matching set of four total. I did not use the copper base on this project, but did test it out to see how it would like, and it looked exactly like the picture on the box shows. The green was slightly off from the color I was trying to match, but blended very well.

If you are trying to get the antique look of copper, this is the product to use. The instructions were straight forward, and the paint looks exactly like it should if you follow them.

Description states "Rust-Oleum 7985955 Spray Paint Kit (3 Pack)". Three pack of what?? You get ONE kit. I was expecting a little more than 11oz spray can of paint and a container of 'Patina' along with a 5¢ foam paint brush. For $36??
What a rip.

Good product. Wish they sold it in a larger kit, or the ability to buy more of the spray (1st Part) separate from the Finish. Coverage over metal is good but it can be less than the sqft they indicate on the package - if you are not really careful with the application.

The Rustoleum American Accents kits are just marvelous for sprucing up parts of concrete fountains and putting great touches on statuary.

I was skeptical about how this would work on birch, but it finished beautifully. The only problem is, you'll be tempted to keep daubing here and there until you've reworked the same area three times. If you can make yourself daub a little and then stop, it's quick and easy.

Used to give a patina-ed copper look to some items that are outdoor decoration. The paint and finish have held up for a long time now. No signs of fading, chipping, etc. This includes the pots that are touching the ground in the grass and dirt as well. If you follow the instructions, the finish looks just like real patina-ed copper.
