After three coats the lights were relatively dark but enough light still shines through when installed on the car.

easy to apply. used mineral spirits to clean lens for prep, then sprayed 2 thin coats. turned out very glossy, smooth, no runs. good product, dont skimp on prep!

This stuff is great. Bought some first at an Auto Zone and it came out pretty good. Not like the flat black suede stuff that you see on some peoples tail lights and headlights. I am starting to think those guys are using flat black spray paint EWW. Nothing like this stuff, it is even better that VHT Nightshades in my opinion. The surface of the head and tail lights kept a glossy, slippery texture but when you apply it if you spray for a second too long in one spot, it will run and you will have to wipe with a rag and thinner and start over. Don't be 'that guy' who does not take the prep time like I did the first time around. I didn't tape the components to the left and right of the lights I was tinting. I hovered in one spot too long and the paint started to run and sag. With a second light coat it covered the first mistake and looked pretty good, the mistake wasn't too noticeable unless you sat RIGHT in front of the car. Not perfect but good enough for me. This second time (I bought it again because I like this stuff) I will protect the whole front of my car with paper and spray in light sweeping motions like the directions say and it will look so good. I wish you luck on your car modification journey.

I think it would also work good for fog lights and reverse lights too but after 2-3 coats, the lights look pretty BLACKED OUT without the light applied and the lights off/car off. But when you turn on the lights or step on the brakes, the light shines through pretty good (considering).

It goes on good, but hasn't been on long enough to actually tell the true potential of this product. So the reason for this review is to address the other reviews describing its really dark appearance with only a few coats. I found these statements to be not true at all. I used this on a third break light with OEM halogen bulbs, and it being a third break light I wasn't to concerned with light penetration, and even with 4 coats of tint it is still not as dark as I wished. So either these other reviewers were putting on heavy coats or I have mad painting skills. You be the judge if you buy it.

Way more of a pain than just using covers made of plastic or vinyl. It sprays on odd and takes a pretty good amount to get dark coverage.

I used it to tint some side markers. Despite following the directions and cleaning and prepping the lenses, the spray didn't go on very evently. Some areas are much darker than others, and there are little 'bubbles' or 'spotting' areas where it didn't stick. I ended up wet-sanding the tint to even it out and it looks fine now, but it was way more work than the can would have you believe. That, and it has more of a deep purple tint than a black tint.

Got it fast! I have put it on three different set of headlights. Anyone doing a do it yourself taillight tent should go with this product.
