From the Manufacturer

Bulls Eye Shellac is an alcohol-based solution of lac, a natural resin. Amber shellac has a warm, orange cast that gives a rich, antique-look to woodwork. Shellac is one of the best finishes I use on the "Heirloom Quality" custom woodwork I have been doing for the past 30+ years, although not as tough as Polyurethane (I use poly. for high wear and outside items) for inside items, such as bookcases, curio display hutches, reclaimed barn-wood furniture and especially- exotic species of wood, the type that turns brown with "Ultra Violet" light (sunlight), I use an oil directly on the piece after final sanding with 220 grit, allow it to sit 5-10 minutes, wipe it ALL off and allow time to completely "cure"- 24 hrs. to 1 week depending on temperature and humidity, (Armor-all, not to name drop) works very good. When cured, brush one pass( it dries quickly) or wipe w/ a lint free rag, the mixed shellac- it will be ready for the 2nd coat in 30-45 minutes (temp. & humidity again) it chemically bonds to the previous coat by the alcohol softening the surface- Zinsser is a pre-mixed type, but you can cut it for thinner coats. Shellac is one coating that allows "air flow" from the 1st coat to evaporate, that's why I make mine thin, 6-8 coats- 2 a day- read up on the "How's & Why's"- a very QUALITY look when done- Thanks Amazon for providing this great product to the "Backwoods" and thanks to those who review the products, P.S.- it has a shelf of 6-8 months , Happy Finishing!!!

Shipped fast as usual. I used this to refinish a rifle stock. The result was awsome. I mixed it with some red rit dye for the first three coats and finished with one last coat of non mixed shellac. Anyone can use it.
