5.0 out of 5 stars Great videos.....i dunno how i got it on DVD, February 22, 2004

This review is from: Rusted Pieces [VHS] (VHS Tape)
First off this collection of videoz are not rusty at all....in fact they all rock considering the time period they were made in.Also contains comments by Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson of the band.Anywayz here are the videos.

1. Peace Sells...But Who's Buyin' ? : This is my favourite video of em all and the song tht got me into Megadeth.Pretty much scenes of the band playing and images flashed real fast acrosss the screen that describe the lyrics. The part in the middle of the song is great when Mustaine is watching the peace sells video and his dad comes and changes it sayin "I wanna watch the news"...Mustaine retorts " This IS the news ! "

2. Wake Up Dead : A standard vid not tht flashy as peace sells but still megadeth playin in the cage makes it pretty good.

3. In My Darkest Hour : I alwayz wonder why this was banned from MTV...i mean come on they play rappers that sing about murder and drugs and popstars that are half-naked but when it comes to Rock N' Roll oh no !...anyway this is just some live footage of the band....its OK

4. Anarchy In The UK (or USA as they say it) : OMG !! what have megadeth done to this punk rock classic !...dont get me wrong it's good yeah but not something megadeth should EVER try !...funny cartoons in this one !!

5. Holy Wars...The Punishment Due : This video is awesome...scenes of the gulf war in the back and Megadeth are jammin in an airplane hangar.

6. Hanger 18 : My second fav. video on this collection...its like some wierd X-Files like stuff of aliens and Vic Rattlehead playing some military dictator....AWESOME !!

All in all this is great try finding it at a second hand store or sumthing or on eBay

4.0 out of 5 stars Shredding videos with pertinent interviews, November 16, 2007
This review is from: Rusted Pieces [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Released on the coat tails of the stunningly brilliant Rust in Piece album this release is probably utterly redundant now in the wake of the Arsenal of Megadeth 2DVD package which has all the videos the `Deth put out up until it's release, which means it completely duplicates all the videos here.

However I've still awarded it four stars to reflect it's qualities at the time of release. Firstly there is the music, which is top notch heavy metal. Rhythm sections blaze along while guitars whirl and scream and Mustaines vitriol soaked vox add that (in)human touch for connectivity.

Then there are the videos themselves. Even the cheapest looking - In My Darkest Hour and Wake Up Dead, haven't dated too badly and that is a rare thing for video clips that have been around for a couple of decades at the time of writing. Which speaks of a professionalism and attention to quality control that is at odds with the level of substance abuse that we all know was happening within the band at the time.

Thirdly and most importantly for the modern punter is the interview footage that occurs between many of the songs. This is not your usual insipid backstage non-hilarity. But instead it is considered opinions and discussion of the songs and videos at hand including discussing things such as what was going through Mustaines mind at the time of writing some of the songs to discussing choice of director.

And that's pretty much all she wrote on this one. Get it in some format if you can do so cheaply for the interview footage at least, something that was missing from the Arsenal of Megadeth package. Four stars for what it is, but largely superseded.

This video is a must buy for any MegadetH fan out there. It has videos from "peace sells", "so far, so good, so what" and "rust in peace." These videos are from the difinitive point in MegadetH's career. They are great video ideas, from great songs off the albums that not too many people ever saw because of MTV. So don't hesitate because you'll be missing out if you don't see them. Songs include peace sells, wake up dead, in my darkest hour, anarchy in the U.K., Holy Wars..., and Hanger 18 which is my favorite. If you have never seen the videos and you love MegadetH, add this one to your collection and rock on metalheads.
