Excellent Live Album,
By Godweensatan (Mpls., MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rusted Root Live (Audio CD)
Rusted Root's new album "Live" is one of the best live albums released in the past few years. While it doesn't play a show in its entirety, but rather selects various tracks from a number of shows, each entry on the CD reflects the high energy Rusted Root is known for in their live shows. Personally, the first time I heard this double-disk set I felt transported to the last show I saw, at the famed 1st Avenue music venue in Mpls., MN. This album covers all of my favorite staples from the early albums, including "Send me on my way", "Ecstasy", and "Back to the Earth", but it also includes a fantastic drum "solo". Favorite songs of mine on the 2-disks include "Jack Kerouac" and "Welcome to my party", which is much stronger emotionally than the album version. This album is a definite must for any RR fan, and fans of live album's.

Rusted Never Sleeps,

What a great band, what a great 2 hours of music. I thought Welcome to my Party was the best this band has done with the title cut and Blue Diamonds and such being classic beautiful songs, now this comes along and is a must-have for us fans.
Their music has a communal, jam band feel to it, and the song writing is top notch. I'm not a big fan of drum solos but the middle-eastern, far-eastern, east Brooklyn whatever feel to these solos on this CD do not bore you. I was surprised by the guitar work. The little ode to Jimi Hendrix on Cat Turned Blue and the fuzz tone of Powderfinger shows this guy is just plain great. The occasional female lead is a perfect compliment to his unique, controlled manic voice. This is a stellar live performance by a great band that gets better with each listen.

For those of you unfortunate folk out there who have not yet experienced Rusted Root's live concert, this cd is especially for you. The cd effectively captures their amazing live show. The cd is very solid with old and new "hits". Fans have been asking for a cd of this kind from them for years now and at last they put one out. This band is tireless in their efforts onstage, and you can tell on this cd. All of the members are amazing musicians. This cd is a must have for any fan or for anyone who loves live music. One of Best Live Albums Ever,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rusted Root Live (Audio CD)
This album is a hidden gem. Rusted Root only had a brief time in the commercial sun so many of you probably aren't familiar with them. After listening to rock music for forty years I find this to definately be one of the best live albums I ever heard. The sound quality is excellent. Rusted Root decided to concentrate on live shows at outdoor arenas as did the Grateful Dead and Fish. The energy they exude is absolutely amazing. Disc two has quite a 4 song start that could probably revive a dead person and get em hopping in a hippy dance. Ecstatic drums is the best drum solo song I have ever heard. Send Me On My Way, Ecstatic Drums, Ecstasy, Food & Creative Love, Cruel Sun, Scattered, Martyr, Lost In The Crowd, Cat Turned Blue, and Women Got My Money are absolute rock masterpieces. Most of the remaining songs are just darn good. Welcome to My Party and Blue Diamonds sound better live than on the studio album. Weave is a great bluesy song I was unfamiliar with. There is only one song of the 22 on this album I didn't care for - Too Much. Rusted Root made an album in Pittsburgh before they got famous and those early songs which are included here are still their best. You also get only the best of their newer material which has become a little hit & miss on their studio endeavers. Hard driving rock with one of the best drummers, Bill Donovan, great female backup singers, and a latin american flavoring often thrown in from songwriter Mike Glablicki. If you love rock n roll then you should definately add this live masterpiece to your record collection. If your not familiar with Rusted Root, this is the record to get, and you won't go wrong.

Rusted Root's Live album is one that every member of the Tribe needs to have! Now you can relive the experience of seeing them in person in your house, at work, in your car, or just about anywhere else you listen to music! Its also a great cd for those who haven't been able to see them perform in concert to buy. As someone who has seen them in concert numerous times trust me when I say that this cd brought all those amazing memories rushing back! Thank you Rusted Root!

Ive been waiting for this CD for a long time and finally its here. As a collector of Root shows it is outstanding to finally have a good collection of perfect sounding songs. I would highly recomend this CD to even the casual root fan as you are sure to recognize some of their best hits here. The world needs more bands like Rusted Root. Buy this CD as a gift for the holidays and help get America's kids off the brainless marketing television that is MTV.
