I am very sensitive to caffeine. I limit myself to a cup of tea in the morning and can still have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. This works fairly quickly for me. If I take it too early, I can't keep my eyes open, so I usually just take it before I go to bed. It keeps me from waking up so much during the night and I feel more rested during the day.

For those that 'test' it by drinking a bunch of coffee at night, then taking the supplement, they may be overloading their systems with caffeine. Rutaesomn works by upregulating the liver enzyme that breaks down caffeine. There is a limit to how much extra enzyme your liver can produce and it varies greatly from person to person (a lot of genetic variability in this particular enzyme).

I can usually fall asleep, but will often have fitful sleep and frequently wake up. Then around 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning, i give up and head to the diner to get my coffee and start my day. I drink several cups of coffee during the morning and stop around 10:30 or so. i figured that was plenty of time to get it out of my system...plus, i need it to fuel me after a restless night.

After taking this as directed, I woke up seven hours after climbing into bed! I never really thought that caffeine might be the culprit, but this seems to lend evidence to that possibility. I will continue to use and hopefully sleep like that every night.

I tried Rutaesomn for a couple of weeks. Occasionally, it seemed to work in that I was able to fall asleep at a more traditional hour even after having my last cup of coffee at around 4pm. I did "test" it a few times and indulged in either a latte or Earl Grey at around 6pm. The nights where I had caffeine later than 4pm, were the nights spent bright eyed and wired until daybreak. The nights with my last caffeine at 4pm found me able to sleep at around 1am. I am, according to my 23andMe analysis, a slow metabolizer of caffeine. I wonder if I was unable to sync up the caffeine and the Rutaesomn enough to be effective. I do know that I will not be splurging on that extra latte or super-strong cup of tea at 6pm again, as with or without the Rutaesomn I wound up wide awake all night long and then I crashed for most of the next day and I don't know if it was the caffeine leaving my system more effectively because of the Rutaesomn or because I had been up for 24 hours straight. It was worth a try, but from now on I'll be having a decaffeinated drink when the sun is setting.

I was skeptical of the claims made by Rutaesomn sleep aid, as the details they give about caffeine's "half life" in the body are wildly inaccurate, or at least not scientifically supported.

But, I got it for free, as a reviewer for amazon vine, and after just two nights, I am blown away. It did not give me better a better falling asleep experience, as I was stressed about taking a pill, but wearing my fitbit to measure my wakefulness showed that I slept very soundly, and I felt like a new person in the morning.

The kicker was when I had my first cup of coffee, both mornings, yesterday and today, it was like I had never drunk it before and I got an enormous buzz.

My next experiment will be to see if I can quit drinking coffee with the help of this "sleep aid".

I would never have thought of a product like this existing but I stumbled across it on Amazon and I'm glad I did. No more staying up wide awake because I had a coffee at 3 in the afternoon. This is a must have if you are caffeine sensitive.

I have horrible issues with caffeine, I must be hyper-sensitive. If I drink caffeine after noon I can look forward to counting dots on the ceiling for hours. When I take Rutaesmon, the caffeine is out of my system and I'm out in 30 minutes without a drugged feeling the next morning.

I must not be super sensitive to caffine, because i cant tell if this product is working or not. I didnt find myself having any easier or harder time falling asleep than i usually do. I didnt feel any more or less rested than when i didnt take it. I even had my girlfriend try it, because she's a bit more sensitive to such things than i am. She said that she wasnt sure either if it was working or not; and wasnt able to tell if she fell asleep any faster or was any more "rested feeling" than usual. And it might be that my system is not sensitive enough (or our systems even) to notice if this is working or not. Either that or it doesnt work. Maybe you'll have better luck with it.
