This is the best first book for when you child is ready to graduate from simple short picture books to one with chapters that takes a several days to read. A charming story with great characters that hold a child's interest as well as an adults. Kids can't wait for story time to find out what happens next, and they will talk about the story for months after you are done. I've yet to find as good a book for this age group.
