4.0 out of 5 stars Charming read, February 10, 2011
By
This was a charming , easy read, one that impresses you with its simplicity of plot and depth of feeling. It includes the unfurling of a love match, from one wedding to another of a group of close knitted friends. I particularly liked the fact that you live the story of all friends and do not have to read their stories in separate books, since sometimes you can miss on one of them and spoil the collection. It also gave me an insight into the difficulties of specially gifted people, who though extremely intelligent and/ or rich are cast aside or misunderstood. These people might seem to have everything yet can be very lonely and once they give their heart, it is a forever affair. Lucky those who get their love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Cheers for Emma Darcy, August 27, 2009
By
Persuasian (I am everywhere I need to be.) - See all my reviews
I've always been a huge fan of Emma Darcy and out of all the stories she has ever written, this one truly made my hour in reading. (I'm a voracious and fast reader, I can't help it!)

Tamalyn meets Fletcher at a friend's wedding and there is an instant connection. Warned off by her friend, who just so happens to be Fletcher's sister, Tamalyn is intrigued. Her friend tells her that Fletcher is a boy genius and a loner, who just happens to have made an incredible fortune from his intelligence. He has a predilection for models. From there, it seems like a rocky start and it is - Fletcher wants more from her physically, but Tamalyn isn't willing to give it. They meet again at yet another of her friend's wedding where they hit it off, proving that lightning strikes twice, and are able to go further along than at the previous wedding where they first met - she nursed a drunken relative, thus eliminating any time to be spent between them. They meet again at a third wedding of another friend of hers. They realize that what they have between them is something they both want to pursue. Ultimately, Fletcher and Tamalyn go away on vacation together, but at the end of the vacation, break up. Tamalyn discovers she's pregnant, he marries her...and the book continues to soar from there.

The whole theme of the book centers around weddings, the eventual outcome between two people who love each other. It is also about strong friendships.

What I truly enjoyed about this book was not only the banter, but the way Ms. Darcy was able to progress from first meeting to two years later. I loved how the characters evolved and interacted. I loved the fact that Tamalyn had strong friendships to support her in her trying times. I liked that the book had the right balance between the relationship of the hero and heroine along with the relationships between her friends. What more could a girl want than a wonderful husband, a beautiful family, fabulous friends and a lifestyle one would envy? This wasn't an over the top melodramatic piece of HP and frankly, it felt like an anomaly - but a good one!

The romance and the relationship blossomed and was paced in such a way that it was believable and non-contrived. It doesn't feel like anything was rushed; it was incredibly well-paced and definitely one story I would be more than happy to keep in my collection of books.

Even though Ms Darcy has been writing for HP for quite a while, her voice remains fresh and current. Her plots don't have that standard, "I'm a virgin that loses it to an alpha male" schtick. That gets old. Fast. Some of her stories have had that, but what I enjoy is that the 'virgin' theme isn't always in every single one of her books (like it is for some other HP authors), but she can write her heroines as also being more experienced, yet credible.

Thanks, Emma Darcy for writing such a [...] novel. :) I have actually never had a book in the Presents line truly appeal to my heart the way this one did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ruthless Billionaire; Forbidden Baby!!!!!!, September 29, 2009
This book has made it's way to number two out of 25. Fletcher meets Tammy at his sisters wedding, and its magic or in Fletcher's term lighting. Although they clash head first Fletcher is determined to get Tammy into his bed because he feels that there is something there. He as a dislike for marriages better yet he doesn't believe in them, yet he attends his sisters friends own just to meet up with Tammy time after time. When she tells him that she is pregnant he does the gentleman thing and proposes that they get married and move in together to raise the child. Tammy doesn't want this because she believes that for two people to want to get married they should love each other not just do it because they are bringing a child to the world. They get into an argument that made me feel like I was involved. This book is worth it....

5.0 out of 5 stars A temporary romance?, August 14, 2009

The very talented Emma Darcy charms her readers again with Ruthless Billionaire, Forbidden Baby. I always love a bridesmaid story and this was no exception with several weddings of her friends taking place, friends who she actually called her family. The first wedding takes place with the first of the gang, Tammy getting married and Tamalyn finds out she's going to be paired with Tammy's brother the famous handsome billionaire. They immediately hit it off and he's determined to peruse her at any cost with the exception of marriage as it's not for him. Other weddings happen throughout the book and each and everyone entertaining to read and watching this couple fight their attraction at each event. Fletch fights it every step of the way and Tamalyn knows that she loves him and will only marry for love!

As you read about their dating and watch their feelings for each other become more than they counted on, you wonder how this couple even came to be as Tamalyn is a mid-wife and he's a genius. Now we've all know someone who doesn't meet with the norm someone who doesn't fit into the social scene, called possibly a "geek" because of their superior intelligence, well that's Fletcher, somewhat of a loner but handsome and known for dating super models and never having relationships. So it surprises not only his sister but Tamalyn when he asks her to go on a vacation to an exclusive island.

Passion? Theirs is explosive and she challenges him. However her friends are an important part of her life and Fletch is a loner. She wants love and family and he doesn't, so how could there ever be a chance for them. To top everything, she finds out she's expecting a baby and is determined to have it and he's determined to be in control of the situation, buys a home for them and is relentless.

Learning of Fletcher's years growing up, how he was treated by his family, school mates was very hard to read. And Tamalyn's lonely childhood just as unfortunate. As one reads their story, it's very obvious they challenge each other and belong together. It's a beautifully written contemporary romance and one I'll long remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Great Book! :), May 4, 2011

I was looking for a light read when I came upon this book. Reading the plot and the 5-star reviews made me willing to give this book a chance. The plot isn't anything special... the girl gets pregnant but the guy only wants a short term commitment. But as I was reading this book, I realized how different this plot is compared to other novels with a similar storyline.

Emma Darcy wrote this novel very well. The background of this novel was pretty original to me. I like the whole sisterhood between the main character and her friends. Maybe that was how I was able to relate to the main heroine. I found the interaction between the hero and the heroine to be very interesting. Things definitely sizzle between them in the book. The hero also has a deep side that doesn't seem as forced as the heroes in the other novels I've read. I also love the fact that this book has an epilogue. I always like to see the happy ending after the story ends. Overall, the book packs a punch that you wouldn't believe it's a harlequin presents novel. It feels much more dense and interesting. Maybe that's why it's my go-to book when I have nothing to read.
