5.0 out of 5 stars Ruthless Research, August 10, 2010
By
Richard H. Truitt (Norwalk, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ruthless Focus (Paperback)
The most important thing about this book is that its advice is based on years of painstaking research into the ideas and systems that guide the most successful and fastest growing organizations and not simply the accumulated experience of its authors. When this project was in the dream stage, it was molded by Tom Hall's vision that his agency would provide clients with a world view of the best practices of the fastest growing organizations and not simply an array of internal capabilities and notions. This book is a compilation of the firm's research findings and nuggets of advice that go with them, gathered over many years and presented in a wonderfully appealing story-telling fashion. It is a gift for any owner or manager who wants to spice things up a bit down at the office and perhaps get the organization moving on a smarter, faster track.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Invaluable Business Management Resource, July 22, 2010
This review is from: Ruthless Focus (Paperback)
Companies typically do not have problems with formulating a vision. That is often an exercise in creativity. Putting that vision into reality is the challenge because it involves bringing resources together with people for a common purpose. It is immensely difficult. And for that reason we are fortunate to have such a resource as Ruthless Focus.

Authors Thomas Hall and Wally Bock break down business development into its vital essence: what do you want to accomplish and how are you going to do it. Simple questions but tough to answer.!And that is why Ruthless Focus is so valuable. The authors provide a roadmap that business leaders can use to turn concepts into strategies and subsequently how to deliver on them.

The book contains a rich source of case studies that unmask the secrets of turning strategies into implementation steps. Wal-Mart, Nucor and Home Depot are cited as a good examples of how to execute with clarity of focus in order to achieve intended results.

Ruthless Focus is a book that anyone considering building a business or buying one, or a manager running a business now, can turn to for hands on practical advice. This is a rich resource that belongs on any business bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing focus to a team, July 12, 2010
This review is from: Ruthless Focus (Paperback)
My boss actually had our team read this book in an effort to get us all on the same page towards a more focused company. We are a small company but are very diverse in what we do, so we've struggled with prioritizing and ensuring that everyone on our team stays on track during projects. This book had some really great points not only to focus our team, but also to eliminate things that are inefficient in trying to grow the company.

The title alone could be a battle cry for almost any professional or personal venture! Thomas Hull and Wally Bock walk you through the elements of developing a successful business by having a ruthless focus on your core strategy. I highly suggest this book to anyone who wants to regain their focus, develop a focus, recharge their team, and/or remind themselves what's truly important about their business...their ruthless focus."
