A Fun Story,
By Rien Takhid "Rien" (The greatest state) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ryann Watters And The King's Sword: Book One in the Annals of Aeliana Series (Hardcover)
"Ryann Watters and the King's Sword" is an uplifting tale that readily incorporates portions of Scripture in innovative ways. I really liked how Mr. Reinhold has the abilities and gifts of the main character, Ryann, expand as he delves deeper into God's word. The story is simple but Truth is deeply interwoven with the action. Everyone in my family has enjoyed reading the story - even my seven-year-old brother! I highly recommend this story to all readers.

super middle school quest fantasy,
This review is from: Ryann Watters And The King's Sword: Book One in the Annals of Aeliana Series (Hardcover)
In Mount Dora, Florida, the archangel Gabriel directs young Ryann Watters to find the King's Sword. To help him on his heavenly quest, Gabriel gives him a ring, a staff, and a horn. At the same time Gabriel and Ryann discussed the mission, dark winged fallen angel Ekron directs orphan Drake Dunfellow to stop his enemies from binding him; giving him weapons too. Ryann recruits his best friends Atlanta transplant Terrel Peterson and soccer superstar Liddy Thomas to join him on the quest.
The ring leads them to a hidden portal that takes them to Aeliana. After crossing over, in Aeliana, the three buddies meet Drake who tries to prevent them from getting the King's Sword. Drake has allies too as the fight between evil and good on the spiritual plane occurs even with tweeners. RYANN WATTERS AND THE KING'S SWORD is a super middle school quest fantasy that contains a strong cast especially the four Mt. Dora neighborhood recruits. The spiritual and mundane war hooks the reader from the moment they meet the prime four players (and learn the most intimate secrets of each of them). Young fans will enjoy trekking in Aeliana with the heroic trio who use biblical references of champions overcoming impossible odds to win the day while they battle to prevent Drake and his minion from turning the land into perpetual darkness. Ryan Watters and the Kings Sword,

This review is from: Ryann Watters And The King's Sword: Book One in the Annals of Aeliana Series (Hardcover)
We read this with our 10 and 8 year old boys. They loved the adventure, intrigue and suspense of Ryan trying to negotiate the challenges before him. This story was well-written and provided wonderful food for discussion regarding how God would talk with us, why he allows challenges in our lives and how he gives us the guidance and tools we need to accomplish the work he has for us. This book is well worth a look for any family needing a good read.

Fantasy Fiction for Kids Teaches Lessons in Spiritual Warfare,
By
This review is from: Ryann Watters And The King's Sword: Book One in the Annals of Aeliana Series (Hardcover)
"Ryann Watters and the King's Sword is the story of three kids and their fantastical exploits and adventures. Eric Reinhold's imagination is contagious. By the end of the of chapter one I found myself engrossed in a world of fantasy, entertainment, and engaging lessons in spiritual warfare.
Ryann Watters is visited by the angel Gabriel and charged with finding the King's Sword. He was given a ring, a staff, and a horn to help him in his quest. Drake Dunfellow was visited the same night by a dark winged evil angel Ekron. Drake was recruited to stop the forces trying to bind Ekron. Ryann eagerly shares his story of the angel, the ring and the quest for the sword with his friends Terrel and Liddy. In the small, quiet town of Mount Dora, Florida, Ryann and his friends suddenly found themselves experiencing fantasies they had previously lived out only through adventure books. The unique powers of the ring directed Ryann to the entrance to a portal that took him to the land of Aeliana and led him to the next step in his quest to find the King's Sword. In a later visit to Aeliana, Ryann and his friends were met with the forces of evil. The spiritual battle that resulted provided non stop action and suspense as the conflict heightened. Eric weaves into the story the inspiration and motivation for the young reader to develop character traits of integrity, accountability, discipline, perseverance, leadership, commitment and respect. Illustrations and the cover design by Corey Wolf add to the excitement of the world of Aeliana and the quaint town of Mount Dora. "Ryann Watters and the King's Sword" is a sure winner with kids nine to twelve years old. Highly imaginative, quality entertainment. I am looking forward to reading book two in this exciting trilogy.

Ryan Watters Matters,

This review is from: Ryann Watters And The King's Sword: Book One in the Annals of Aeliana Series (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful Christian fantasy...rivoting, suspenseful, fun. It's aimed at about a 12-year old reader, but I'm many multiples of that, and I enjoyed it immensely. I bought it for my son (who is also several multiples of 12), and he's thrilled with it himself and, having read it himself, plans to read it to his children (K & grade 2). He's read Harry Potter to them, so he knows they can handle some of the "scary" parts. It's a fun read; once started you don't want to leave it. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Review written by 14 year old girl:
"Ryann Watters and the Kings Sword" by Eric Reinhold is an amazing book that captivates the reader with heroes, villains, bad guys, angels, other worlds, mystical talking animals, and a great Christian foundation. This book begins in Mount Dora, Florida with a 14 year old boy named Ryann Watters as the main character. He is very good at keeping appointments and is just about always early. He is a natural leader and he has a very competitive nature; always wanting to be the first to try something new. Ryann is visited by the angel Gabriel who has a message from God to go on a quest to find the King's Sword. Meanwhile, that same night, a young boy named Drake, who is also a school bully, is visited by a dark angel named Lord Ekron and told to stop Ryann from finding the Sword using any means. Both boys are given gifts and missions, but only one boy will succeed. Ryann must rely upon God, His Word, and his own friends. Ryann's mission brings him to the magical land of Aeliana where animals can talk, dragons, elves, and dwarfs live in harmony, the Word (God) speaks to everyone on a feast day, and everything is beautiful. Well, that is, until evil invades this paradise and everything starts to lose part of its life. It is the Garden of Eden all over again and the chances of Ryann being able to save Aeliana are slim to none. This book is a little juvenile, so I would recommend as a great read-a-loud for 6-8 year olds. Eric Reinhold is a wonderful writer and I enjoyed learning from the many lessons that he included in this fantastic book, such as trust, faith, and a willingness to do God's Will no matter how crazy it sounds. It is a very inspirational book with great morals and I would recommend it to young readers who like mystical creatures and battles. Would I/Did I buy it? Yes Would I read it again? Yes Would I recommend it to friends? Yes
