4.0 out of 5 stars It's a keeper
What a fun fantasy! RYDER's WIFE is about a business woman who must marry someone w/in 48 hours to keep her business, so she marries the first guy she comes across in a Mississippi roadhouse.

Believable, workable plot? Of course not! But that's the fun of it!

You will enjoy the falling-in-love process between Ryder and Casey, and I bet you will want to keep this...

2.0 out of 5 stars No sizzle/little plot/poor writing!
I bought this book at an auction due to the fabulous reviews it received at numerous websites. I was disappointed. First of all, without giving to much away, the character of Ryder is pretty well drawn, however we are never told about the time in between the "crisis" in his childhood and the grown-up Ryder? He apparently comes from a loving family.... As...

This was my first Sharon Sala book, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Over the last few years Silhouette's quality has been slipping, but RYDER's WIFE is a cute fantasy and worth the $4.

As for the heroine, Casey, I found her mildly annoying and all together unbelievable. This book was written in 1997! She goes to a bar and asks anyone in there to marry her? Come on! I can suspend disbelief but please. And isn't it just great that Ryder happens to be in the bar.The most annoying part of the book was the way the author kept using the same phrase over and over again for Ryder's character. "Easy", or "Easy Now". Please. Casey on the one hand was suppose to be a strong business woman/CEO and yet Ryder was always trying to calm her with the "Easy" thing. This was to annoying. Also, once again the perpetual stereotype of the "Little Woman" fainting and being jittery was plain sexist. "Casey stood up to fast and Ryder had to catch her"! All of a sudden when Ryder enters her life she needs help/guidance?This book reads like it was written in the 70's. Haven't we moved beyond that?
