They aren't commerical grade tools but for the average DIY person they are great.

Due to the fact this was a Christmas present and there was no time to return the saw, I had to swallow the pill and keep it for the gift.

What shocked me even more was when I checked the charge on the battery after I was done and it still had a full charge!

I've owned this saw for over a year, and have found it to be of great use both indoors and outdoors, wherever low accuracy cutting is needed. For example, I've attached a wood cutting blade, Milwaukee 49-22-1129 12-Piece Ultimate Demolition Sawzall Blade Set, and pruned tree branches up to 6 inches in diameter, or I've attached a live wood blade, Milwaukee 48-00-1301 Sawzall 9-Inch 5-Teeth per Inch Pruning Blade, 5-Pack and cut down saplings and woody weeds, I've even made some awkward cuts when constructing a child's play area. In all these situations, this tool has done its job well.

Changing blades is reasonably convenient, just pull back on the locking lever and insert the blade. Vibration while cutting is noticeable but understandable and manageable--I find the proper blade greatly reduces vibration, for example using a green pruning blade on green wood. Pulling the trigger back smoothly increases cutting speed, and in most applications there is speed to spare and I end up working at a moderate pace instead of full out. The included blades are nearly useless and I recommend buying Milwaukee blades separately. Reciprocating saw blades use a standard chuck, so you are free to buy non-Ryobi blades.

This saw is obviously a dangerous instrument, and I would take care to use two handed operation, work gloves and eye protection--although it can be operated one handed in "an emergency", and be careful when carrying as the blade will tend to swing dangerously close to your calves or ankles depending on your height.

Reviewing this saw: Great saw with plenty of power. I also purchased an extended life battery and use it for my Ryobi drill, blower, edge trimmer, and all in one tool.

Reviewing the seller: This was listed as new but arrived missing the packaging and looks used. Turns out Amazon allows private sales on here so BEWARE. I left appropriate feedback on the seller and now he's harassing me via email. Sellers name is "Your Number One Stop".

Just what we needed, another worthless Ebay.

Better than I expected. Cuts 1 5/8" UniStrut no problem.Feels solid and is a big step up from the older (blue) Ryobi saw.

The reason I bought this is because it looked like it was balanced with the placement of the battery...it did not disappoint.
I also like the battery check charge button...very convenient.

This saw is fine if all you are doing is cutting some tree branches, some chintzy fencing, or some lath and drywall, and only use it once a month. It's all you would need. The batteries will add another $50 to the tool price though. Having a battery powered tool is good for a place that doesn't have power and you want to get some light duty work in.

But me, I used this on a 4" cast-iron-boiler pipe. 1/10th of the way through and the first battery was shot. 2/10ths of the way through and the second battery was shot. 3/10ths of the way through is starts throwing sparks and burns out. I pulled the switch on a fully charged battery and it was silent, which means the motor literally burned up, and wasn't just the shaft twisting off. I threw the thing in the trash and finished the job with a Craftsman professional (which isn't that great either). Then I did 10 other pipes just like it with the same mediocre tool.

If you want to do anything heavy duty, and spend less money, get a coorded DeWalt for $99, or a Milwalkee Sawzall. The biggest, best Sawzall's are Milwalkee's, they invented them and they still make the biggest and best heavy duty ones for the best price. $150 will get you a 15amp one that could cut through a 3"-steel plate. The DeWalt one is lighter and could still bring down a house, and then another one.

I always look to Amazon to find the best choice and pricing on products. After ordering and paying for this recip saw, I found one, in stock, at the local big-box store for $50.00 less. Due to the fact this was a Christmas present and there was no time to return the saw, I had to swallow the pill and keep it for the gift. I am more than a little dismayed at Amazon over this purchase.

I am an old retired woman and I removed some bushes by my house and removed the roots with this saw, love it!
