I am siding my house and this tool is so much easier and lighter than a corded saw.
David Moore
All tools work great but the sawsall drains a battery the fastest depending on what you use it for.
J. Labore
Even to cut 3/4" plywood and 2x4s this saw locks up regardless of how slow you go.

Not a big ryobi fan until I bought a 7 tool kit for $249 in 06. I was expecting a sub-par codless tool, but was pleasently surprised. I am a carpenter by trade(20 yrs) and have resorted to using this little saw for almost all of my cuts for 2 reasons. 1. It is light as a feather. It is cordless and It goes way beyond my expectations for a little trim saw! Only bogs down in thick 2 inch material after hours of use. I just couldn't be happier. With a sharp finish blade, this saw is just unbeatable. The impact driver is also amazing. It will go all day driving 2 and three inch screws and I still had battery left after my co-workers makita went dead. I have left it out in the rain and beat it up worse than any of my other tools (because I was expecting it to fail and be a piece of junk) and it just takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The only tool of the 7 pack that I purchased which I haven't been impressed with is the recip. saw. It drains your battery and is only good in a pinch for a short amount of time. Other than that, I have had no problems with any of the tools and I use them on a continuous daily basis. I am not easily impressed, but my hat is off to ryobi on this specific tool kit. I have rarley had any tool that lasts for 3 years of the continous use and abuse that I put it through. The best part is that I only spent $250 for a 7 tool pack and have gotten thousands of dollars of production out of them. Finally for once, my expectations were exceeded.

Update: 3/1/2011
OK, it is now 2011 and I am updating my rating for the pack. All in all I am impressed by the performance of the pack for all my home use projects and tinkering. The saw is not a plywood saw and I can only get through a sheet per charge, using both battteries, so I wouldn't but it to cut plywood.

If you own Ryobi, and don't have this in your arsenal, then shame on you.

I've heard a lot of people say they don't get a great "run-time" out of this tool, but THEY ARE WRONG.
I use this every day along side guys using tools that cost 3 times as much (they are "Trade Specific", where I have to work "Mulch-Trade" and own many more tools).

After 35+ years in the trades, I've learned a few things.

#1: A cordless tool will not, and CANNOT deliver what a corded tool will.
#2: Comparing the performance between the two PROVES you are NOT a knowledgeable reviewer!

All you need to know to get the most out of ANY BRAND of cordless tool is this.........

Wait for it...............

DON'T LOAD THE TOOL !! Let the TOOL and it's SPEED do the work!
Push (and "load") the battery of a cordless tool, and you are doomed to be unhappy.

Relax.................... Let your tool take the time it needs to do it's job.......... You'll make make twice as many parts, with half the work.

This saw was part of a kit. I'm a contractor and found that Ryobi's hold up well to rough use. However, If you go to the Home Depot sight (don't take just my word before you purchase this) you will see that most people that use this saw "professionally", find it virtually useless on the job. It does not matter what battery you use (I have the basic ni-cads and the newer lithiums) the outcome is the same. It drains your batteries faster than any other tool that they manufacture. I even purchased a finer blade (more teeth) to see if that would help. I found that I can cut wood the thinkness of luan. Before you purchase this item, ask someone that has it, to show you how it cuts through a 4x8 3/4 inch piece of plywood. Unless my saw or batteries are defective, I can guarantee that it can not cut it in half on one fully charged battery. If it comes as part of a kit, then once in a while you may find some use for it. Buying it individually would be a waste of money.

Just an update: I did a little research on Ryobi. The company that produces them also produces under the Milwaukee name.

I need to CLARIFY this for a few that failed to read and/or interpret the review. IT CAME AS PART OF A KIT. DON'T go out and buy it as a single piece. I stated that it can cut luan, not plywood and I never have and never would use it professionally. I directed those that were not sure to a different sight for other reviews. Again, I never would have purchased this for my day job.

I bought the circular saw and the screwdriver combo three years ago when I moved into a new house. The screwdriver is actually not any good as a screwdriver but it works OK as a drill. The little saw, on the other hand, is great. Fits me perfectly as it is lightweight and I am a woman. I started using it to install 3,000 sq. ft. of hardwood floors in the house. It performed perfectly. I've also cut a whole variety of other things with it, including furniture grade plywood, 3/4 inch external grade plywood (large sheets). I built a floating, 16x10 feet deck using only this little saw (including cutting a dozen or so of 2x8s). Currently, I am remodeling my basement moving a couple of walls, and the saw is hard at work again merrily cutting studs. The battery started draining fast sometime into the second year of use, and I had to buy new batteries. I just got a new set of batteries for it again because I am planning to make new kitchen cabinet doors out of bamboo plywood. I have a pretty high confidence it will not let me down. My only wish is that it had no-memory batteries so that they would last longer than a year.
