On the way home I picked up this gun only the corded version, the next day we got to the point that it was time to start painting the garage (really a small barn). We were all interested in seeing how the gun would work, if it didn't we would all be using rollers and poles.
Using unthinned latex exterior paint we knocked out the same amount of area as my wife and I had done in a full day a few months ago, but only in a couple of min.
What I though would take a week for two or more people, turned into a one day job thanks to the area this gun can cover.
the buyer also brought a paint gun, so we all got to compare how they worked. the Royobi shoots a flat fan of paint, very easy to control, this allows you to get very close to the windows or anything you don't care to paint as the fan has a very defined edge. the reversible tip is awesome, if the fan gets gaps or makes a jet on one side, spin the tip around and blast the clog out, then spin the tip back around to continue painting. On the other gun, you had to unscrew the tip and use the little brush to clean it. The other gun (wagner?) was also incredibly loud almost to the point of wanting ear plugs, it also shot a circular spray pattern, one that took much more effort to keep from running the paint.Read more ›
Purchased used via Amazon (not refurb) I was hesitant as to the functionality after reading the negative reviews.
When it arrived in near-new condition I put it to use that next weekend to repaint my Garage doors. What a professional job it did!
The pro tip allowed me to quickly reverse the nozzle to clear the occasional clog experienced from using old paint that likely had a few hardened paint chips in it. I was also able to rotate the sprayer head to make a vertical or horizontal paint stream that covered my paint area very nicely.
Having never used a paint sprayer I was concerned by the spray pattern as it looked like it would be spotty but these fears were allayed as the paint dried to smooth and professional looking finish. I used an un-thinned latex indoor/outdoor paint for the project.
The drawbacks - and reason for 4 stars and not 5 - it came with the older smaller lithium battery which worked well but gave out just as I was cleaning up the sprayer after finishing the job - 45-min or so. Fortunately I had an extended version of the battery already charged and wow! Even the paint-pumping power was drastically increased! It is likely I will start with that battery on future jobs.
The occasional spatter that preceded a clog of the sprayer was quickly touched up with a small brush - afterwards I just re-sprayed the area to maintain the smooth pattern provided by the Ryobi.
The only leakage I experienced was at the spray guard/tip and from the locking container when I overfilled it with water. I read the complaints about leaking and used teflon tape on the spray nozzle threading as a precaution so perhaps there would have been some otherwise.Read more ›

Piece of junk. Save your money and buy a real spraying system. For this thing to even come close to working, you've got to thin your paint to the point of running. Read morePublished 19 months ago by ryurgin

I love the sprayer. This is my second one. I didn't thoroughly clean the first one and it broke. This one was used and ufor some reason it didn't come with a battery or charger.Published on February 9, 2014 by G Hayes
