I am very happy with this bible. The quality is superb. I love the weight of the paper, and the binding is very good. The footnotes of this study bible are excellent. Good for those who are looking for more in depth study into theology. I only wish that it had 2 book marks instead of just one. Overall, I am VERY pleased with this bible!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best there is!, October 13, 2011
This review is from: The Ryrie NAS Study Bible Genuine Leather Black Red Letter (Leather Bound)
The NASB is my preferred translation, it is a very good literal translation, and uses modern English words and grammar. If you want KJV, then there's no substitute for it, otherwise the NASB is peerless. The Ryrie Bible was the first Study Bible (to my knowledge) to use the NASB.

There are three pinnacle study Bibles: The Old Scofield, the Thompson Chain-Reference, and the Ryrie. I own all three as hard-covers and they're at my right hand in my study. All three of these are excellent, but the Thompson Bibles have become very expensive (3x $!), so I assume they're no longer in print. The Ryrie is closer to 25 years old vs Scofield's 100 years, and there's a progression of scholarship. Ryrie was educated at Dallas Theological Seminary (conservative, evangelical), founded by Chafer, who was a close friend and ministarial partner of Scofield. So these two Bibles are from the same family, different generations. While I used the Scofield from my teens into my 30's, and now carry Foundation's "Reference Edition" NASB, I am very happy with my Ryrie.

As far as the actual content, each book has an introduction with a detailed outline, and the outline headings are used within the chapters. There's plenty of references and topical notes, maps, concordance etc. Basically, the distinction here is the quantity and quality. And for me, quality means I can trust the author. One reviewer mentioned a CD-ROM - Mine had its CD, a DVD-ROM actually, and the included software is a great value (WORDSearch - compatible with Bible Explorer), including several title which are normally additional cost, including the NASB Bible versions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bible!, April 11, 2011

I received the product well within the estimated date of delivery but the seller did not mention that the DVD which was supposed to be a part of the package would not be included. A page was torn out from the front and highlights were found throughout the book. All in all, it is still usable and I am still pleased with it however, I really wish the DVD would have been included. The Ryrie has been a favorite for many years and it's now nice to own the genuine leather bound version of this Bible. Great study notes and referrences! It is very well made and I highly recommend this version of the NASB for any serious student of G-d's Word.
