Dr. Charles Ryrie is is well known for his unusal ability to explain Bible truth so clearly and logically. The thousands of notes in this Bible are a vertual Bible Institue. It is chuck full of clear and simple explanations of very difficult passages. These notes are written by an esteemed scholar with impeccable degrees and qualifications. The very latest information through archeology and history make the notes as up to date as you can find. Dr. Ryrie has such a vast knowlege of the culture of the Bible times that he explains so many things that are not understood without that background of knowledge. His outlines of books of the Bible are extremely well done and helpful. This is one of the best helps of Bible notes available. It is a must for a hungry Bible student who wants not just truth but truth that is from a warmed heart of God's servant.

Here is a solid, basic theology coupled with a Study Bible that cannot lead you astray. Simple enough for new Christians, yet the Expanded Edition has enough meaty notes to satisfy the advanced believer. Most of the bottom page notes are brief and to the point, with some exception. Lucid, pointed, full of facts, occasionally Ryrie shows his theological position in such places as not listing Jehovah-Rapha (God is my healer) as one of the Jehovah titles in his notes, when nearly all other Jehovah titles are listed from the Hebrew. Basic bottom line: Baptist theology, pleasantly Dispensational, great for salvation orientation and facts on books/authors, satisfying for mainstream readers.

The KJV Ryrie study bible is great and you CAN'T beat the price! I've purchased a couple bibles for twice the price that do not stand up to this bible. I've had the hardback edition for about 10 years now and it's not falling apart----made very well. Nice sized print, good footnotes, maps, Church history---

Again, It's hard to beat the price.

When I first recieved my book, I was elated. However, upon further inspection, I found that the book was not complete. I did ask for another
copy instead of a refund but guess it could not be done. I got no explanation or
anything, just an order for a refund. I was very interested in purchasing
this bible. The reason I returned the book was because half the concordance and some of the maps were missing. You could have recieved 5 stars
had the bible been complete or I got an explanation and another copy. I still want to get that bible.

I have been an avid book shopper on amazon.com for the past 4-5 years. And I have never experienced any problems. I love shopping on amazon.com.

However, the Ryrie Study Bible that I ordered in April 07 did not ship until June 07. When it arrived, I found that the majority of the concordance was missing. I returned it and was promptly shipped a new bible. But it was the same problem - missing concordance. At this point, I requested a refund. I will walk into a brick and mortar store and purchase a new study bible.

I will continue to be an amazon shopper.

I have an older version from 1978 it has a lot but this bible has even more the section on between the testament a 300 years period where the Apocrypha was written some consider scripture. About 14 books not included in the Prodestant Bible but in included in the catholic bible and the King James 1611 version. Something everyone should read it give some history not included in the old testament. Own one of these Bibles and see for yourself.
