Forró - A Brazil that you have never heard of...,
By "junior_sp" (São Paulo, SP Brazil) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sao Joao Vivo (Audio CD)
Even after all these years on the road, Gilberto Gil seems to be getting better and better - and Brazilian popular music (MPB) must be thankful to him. In this album, he takes a deep look toward the joyful rythms of Northeastern Brazil. Forró, a word with English root (during World War II, American soldiers promoted parties in military bases, which were open for all - or forró, as Brazilians understood), is irresistible - there's no way to stay still. Among the songs, I recommend some masterpieces such as Asa Branca and Xote das Meninas.
