5.0 out of 5 stars The film...on a disc! How did they do that?, December 1, 2000
By
Paul Morrison (Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: M.A.S.H. (1970 Film) (Audio CD)
I bought this CD in 1994, before the days of bonus tracks on every other CD on release. Even without the extra tracks though it's still a favourite.

I was a fan of the TV series first and then the film, but it has to be said that the two are inextricably linked by the haunting theme tune (and I think it's just as good with the words).

This must have been one of the first CD's to include dialogue as well as music (and be warned, there is considerably ore of the former than the latter) before the idea was popularised (and flogged to death) by Tarantino, but given how good the dialogue is that's no bad thing.

In summary, buy it if you like the film (a lot), don't buy it if your mind is closed to the concept of tunes with lyrics, or more importantly if you hated the film.

3.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack worthwhile?, December 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: M.A.S.H. (1970 Film) (Audio CD)
The Mash soundtrack is good for those that liked the movie. The soundtrack has more movie clips and sounds than songs. It would have been nice if some full songs were on the soundtrack . . . tokyo shoe shine boy, sayonara, etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars M*A*S*H* has no songs!, January 21, 2004

This review is from: M.A.S.H. (1970 Film) (Audio CD)
Fans of M*A*S*H* will love this CD. All of the best dialogue from the movie directed by Altman, however, there are no complete songs. I would have loved to hear "Tokyo Shoe Shine Boy" or Sayonara . . . all the songs are in the background with the dialogue over. Even the famous "Suicide is Painless" cut isn't the best cut.
