2.0 out of 5 stars Variable pricing seems to be a myth, October 10, 2009
This review is from: S.O.S. (Let The Music Play) (MP3 Download)
The song itself is slick and glossy stuff suitable for the dancefloor; it does an adequate job. But I'm docking it a star because of the $1.29 price tag, which is the same as that on iTunes.

When iTunes broke its 99 cent ceiling at the behest of the labels, one would have imagined that variable pricing would have been introduced amongst different vendors. That's not turning out to be the case, as this single demonstrates (on 10 October 2009). If it's selling for $1.29 at one place, I should be able to find it cheaper in another store. That was true with the pricing of CDs in CD stores back in the day, and should be true in the digital age as well. Until the smell of collusion and record label greed is completely purged, the labels can continue to look forward to a long battle with illegal file sharers.

Also, considering mediocre quality of this single, labels might want to rethink arguing that it costs this much to produce a great song.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let It Play, September 12, 2009
This review is from: S.O.S. (Let The Music Play) (MP3 Download)
When it has came down to the music scene, there honestly have been fewer songs that have been worth while. For Jordin Sparks, whom had won American Idol, she has the potental, but sadly and deeply so, she hasn't been able to have the songs that really stand out. That was the case with Battlefield, and even more with the case of her second single from Battlefield, S.O.S. (Let The Music Play.) I really thought the sample of the 80's tune from Shannon was absolutely a huge dissapointment. I really thought the idea of her trying to sample a dance song, and go down the exact same path artists like Rihanna and Beyonce' have done in, has made her feel a lot weaker. The song was not honestly for Jordin a very smart move for her musically. She really needs to find better material than trying to sample other artists. It has gotten so overdone, that it deeply saddens me that there honestly is nothing new. Her next single, needs to strike a tougher and more diverse chord. Instead, I really recommend that you download Whitney Houston's Million Dollar Bill instead.
