Book Description

More than 80 books and over 6 million copies of the Stalker book series have sold in Russia and in Germany.
The official S.T.A.L.K.E.R book series has taken on a new image — graphic novels that will immerse you in the world of the Zone where dangerous anomalies lie in wait for the Stalkers at every turn and where hideous mutants and zombies are on a continuous hunt for man.

A Swedish tourist named Max Cotten vanishes without a trace during the European Football Championship in Kiev. A friend receives his notes contained in a package. Max is alive for now, but will he be for long? Involuntarily, he is in the most dangerous place on Earth — the Zone. Is there a way to freedom amid a man-hunt? Will Max want to leave the Zone or will he risk it all and stay to search for an answer to a lingering question?

5.0 out of 5 stars Intrigue, mystery, quality graphic content October 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I haven't played the video game, so I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I opened this book.
Author Artur Frank has a way with atmosphere. And not only with the colorful but ominous images he used inbetween the text, but also with the words he put together to build up the necessary suspense.

A man has gone missing, and he contacts through a letter only one of his friends... This is how it all begins, and the missing's man friend has to figure it all out, taking it one step at a time.

Mystery, suspense, quality graphic content. Mr Artur Frank has it all in his story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uniquely Entertaining! October 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't usually read graphic, apocalyptic, adventure novels, but I'm glad I did. This story helped to open my eyes to a whole new entertaining genre. This story grabbed me from the start, and I thought it was uniquely entertaining how the author skillfully used, as another reviewer wrote, "diaries, letters and pictures to put the reader right in the middle of the action." The illustrations were perfect for inserting us into and making us feel a part of the setting in the Zone. I look forward to reading more in this series. Kudos to the author, Artur Frank, for an excellent start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting mix of graphic and text October 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
First of all I downloaded this book for free. That why I can't decide if price is high or not.
What can I tell you? I find out that this book was pretty good with such a mix of graphic content and interesting apocalyptic story. I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next! And I'm ready to buy next part:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly fresh and competent October 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book turned out to be much better than I expected. You have to agree you can't expect much when it comes to video game novelizations but this one, apart from being well-plotted and competently written, had the added touch of a graphic novel to it. I just liked it! It felt like reading someone's diary - entertaining and exciting (not that I read other people's diaries, you understand :-))). Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Adventure November 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book! The story was compelling and intriguing and kept me turning the page, wanting to find out more about Chernobyl and what had happened. The drawings are amazing; haunting, beautiful and unique. I am hooked on this story and plan to read the next in the series. I am not a gamer, and knew nothing about the video game and loved it! I highly recommend this fantastic book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining October 28, 2012
By Lisa
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Normally, I wouldn't read a graphic novel but I like paranormal and horror books and bought this book a day when it was free. I thought the story was well written with only a few, very minor, flaws. The story was engaging, where I was eager to read more even when it ended. I found the pictures and diary style with different fonts refreshing. Would I recommend this book to others? Yes, and when my teenager son is looking for another book, I plan on sharing this one with him.

Ok book, I've written better, it's still an entertaining read. It's pretty predictable, and the character is too much of a super hero in the world of the zone. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A game tie in, nothing more
If you're looking for more from the world of Roadside Picnic, look elsewhere. Southern Comfort is a better book but still far diverged from the original.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, entertaining
I am a huge fan of what I view as the incredibly underrated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series. I could go on about why, but that doesn't belong in a review of the books. Read more
