I have notice a lot of people are wanting many of the non-classical songs from the movie which arn't included on this soundtrack. I have included a list of all of the songs, and preforming artists, classical and otherwise, in the same order as shown in the credits of the movie.
1. Shattered by The Rolling Stones 2. Oh Shooter by Thicke 3. Columpio by El Gran Silencio 4. Zacatecas by Genaro Codina 5. Sinaloa by Banda La Estrella 6. Figure .09 by Linkin Park 7. Do You Want Some by Buppy 8. I'm Coming by Jimmy Tha Joun 9. Crosstown Traffic by Jimi Hendrix 10. Sound Off (Duckworth Chant) by Willie Lee Duckworth 11. Just Because by Jane's Addiction 12. Women In My World by 13 13. Time Is Running Out by Apollo Four Forty 14. Tell Me by Long John Hunter 15. Brother Down by Sam Roberts 16. Y Yo Sigo Aqui by Paulina Rubio 17. S.W.A.T. 911 by Barry DeVorzon 18. Give Your Life A Break by John Gipson I think this list will help you find what you are most likely looking for.

I find it rather unfortunate that so many people have sullied the rating of this score simply due to the fact that they were looking for the soundtrack instead. The only tragedy here is that the publishers chose to include 3 unrelated pop songs onto an otherwise fine score.
Pity, as Elliot Goldenthal is the most original composer working in Hollywood today. If you're looking for another big, brass-heavy score, ala John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith, look elsewhere. What you'll find here is simply very creative contemporary classical music set to a movie.

Goldenthal does it again!,

I can honestly say that Elliot Goldenthal is one of the mostoriginal and innovative composers working today. Every score he puts out is outstanding, and this one is very good. SWAT brings back fond memories of the Michael Mann film Heat which Elliot scored as well as Demolition Man. You can buy this CD with absolute confidence, you can't go wrong with Goldenthal.

This sound track contains both, music to jam to and music to work out to!Most songs(about 12)are very energetic, with a high pulse to the beat and a fast pace to the track.
On the other hand, this sound track is as tense to work out to as that of ROCKY!If you're looking for a sound track that does both this is it!

"S.W.A.T." - Not A Bad CD At All!,
By Kevin Doyle (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews

I tell ya, I've never really been a big fan of Elliot Goldenthal. His scores, for me, haven't really hit the mark. Haven't heard his score for "Frida", but hey...it won the Oscar. His score for "Interview With The Vampire" was so-so, and as for his two scores for the Batman films...well, I really missed Danny Elfman. So when I heard that he was doing the score for "S.W.A.T.", I was less than enthused. But after seeing the movie and hearing the score, I had to get the CD. It's really not a bad score at all. It's loud, hard, and I think perfect for this type of film. The massive guitars really add a nice backdrop to the hard-edged routines of S.W.A.T. Of particular interest on this CD comes from a cue that Goldenthal had nothing to do with. Track #8 "S.W.A.T. 911" is an exciting remix of the classic original television S.W.A.T. Theme, performed by Danny Saber. It's a great cue! I probably could have done without the last tune, a hip-hop take on S.W.A.T., oddly named "Samuel Jackson". All in all, this is a good CD, and worth the purchase. It's perfect for working out to. Goldenthal manages to create a propulsive and highly aggressive score for this much anticipated action blockbuster. Even if you don't have any Goldenthal soundtracks on your rack (like me!), this CD will be a welcome addition, and one that will be often heard.

A Noisy Affair with pockets of Interesting Moments,
By
This review is from: S.W.A.T. (Score) (Audio CD)
Elliot Goldenthal's "S.W.A.T." is the complete opposite of his award-winning work for "Frida." In short, "S.W.A.T" is a noisy, rock-infused, pumped-up-on-steroids score with a handful of interesting moments. If you're a soundtrack aficionado and you favor Goldenthal's more brooding orchestrated scores, this isn't for you. The score is a fusion of electronic synth scoring and orchestrated scoring. Goldenthal seems to focus more on beats and rhythms, almost throwing melody and harmony out the back window. The highlights here are when Goldenthal gives the orchestra the spotlight, especially his brass section. One strong track on this score is "My Big Black Assault Weapon" with its big shiny brass hooks laced with a thick rock beat. Throughout the CD, there are pockets of really interesting orchestral moments such as the opening strings in "Crash Landing" and "That Cop Stole My Car." The remix of the well-known TV show theme by Danny Saber is a strong one. It melds the familiar disco tune with brooding low strings, giving the theme song a newfound cinematic oomph. It's strange. A disco tune/TV theme actually sounds really good if done right. Goldenthal tries his knack on the theme as well in "S.W.A.T. Sticker." It's too bad it's a ridiculously short track because he actually improves on the theme song and actually makes it sound like a formidable theme to a big Summer Blockbuster. The songs in the CD fit perfectly well with the score. Hot Action Cop's "Samuel Jackson" is a strange one. After a few listens, this fun rock ditty actually grows on you. Maybe because they're 'vocal' rendition of the TV theme song borders on parody even though they execute the song with such gusto. I remember seeing the film and thinking to myself how I wanted to lower the volume on the score so that I can actually hear the hit-or-miss dialogue ("Did they REALLY just say that God-awful line?"). Overall, this CD is too much of a mixed inconsistent effort. At least the TV theme song sounds cool again.

It's Goldenthal!,

I agree with A. Fordham in that I am a bit stunned at the number of people who are giving this score a low rating simply because it is not the soundtrack comprised of pop songs.
I'm not trying to be a pretentious film score snob; I really can understand this confusion between "score" and "soundtrack" since film music is probably one of the least popular genres in the general public. But I'm a little bummed by the low rating caused by this confusion. This score is brilliant much like any other work that has come from Goldenthal and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Unusual choice of composer,
By
This review is from: S.W.A.T. (Score) (Audio CD)
To me, Elliott Goldenthal was a surprise choice of composer for the movie, although critically acclaimed for several scores his only previous action movie was Demolition Man. For SWAT, one might have expected a score from the Media Ventures team, such as Harry Gregson-Williams (whose Spy Game score was used briefly on the trailer for SWAT). The result is an orchestrally based score, with heavy use of dischordant strings to emphasize the chaotic nature of the gun fights. Not having seen the film yet, I cannot comment how effectively this might work in the picture, but on CD it is not an easy listen. There doesn't appear to be an easily recognisable signature theme for our heroic `boys in blue' and the tense moments seem more akin to Alien3 than a cop movie. Although I enjoyed Goldenthal's work in "Heat", listeners looking for a pumped-up, pounding action score should go elsewhere.
