I bought this spray for protection against dogs while I jog. I really liked the velcro-elastic cover. It's awesome since it keeps the sprayer all lined up for use without having to hold onto it. I recently decided to test the sprayer. I am really glad that I did this at home and as a test. The pepper solution just ran out all over my hand. There was no 'spray' at all. I was suprised it did not burn my skin. Luckily my husband was home to turn the hose on for me so I didn't get it everywhere.

No matter what kind you get, make sure you test it! If you really need it, it HAS to work.

As a young female who enjoys late night runs, I have found this particular brand of pepper spray to be my top choice since 2006. I have tried several other designs- they were either awkward/hard to spray, didn't spray, or had uncomfortable/no grips. The first canister I bought from sabre, I tested the first day and every 2 months afterward for the next year- it worked like a charm every time. The hand strap is adjustable and allows me to relax my grip when I run. I buy a new one every year or so to make sure there's enough spray left in the canister after all the testing- so this will be my fourth purchase and I have every confidence that it will work as well as the last three. I definitely feel much safer on my runs when I have it with me!

I have used the Sabre pepper spray for a couple years now, and I love it! I like the way it will fire with a quick flip of the thumb. I enjoy running in the dark, and I have been attacked by a couple dogs. Now, I carry the Sabre spray and have had occasion to use it. I have found that just pointing it at a dog is sometimes enough to get them to back down... don't know why, but this has happened on more than one occasion. I like the way the velcro closure is adjustable. It enlarges to fit over gloves in the winter, adjusts smaller for the warmer months. Since it wraps around my hand, I don't have to carry it, and this frees up my hand to relax while running. I usually wrap it around my two middle fingers now and have my outer fingers on the outside of the velcro strap to make sure the velcro closure does not interfere with the spray... it did once. A better design would have been to have the velcro stick out on the bottom or to the inside of the strap, but this has been an easy problem to remedy. Since I am a woman, I also feel more confident running alone with my pepper spray ready. My four children also take it with them on walks around the block to fend off any loose dogs.

I ordered the spray due to a rogue out of control neighbor down the hall being evicted...he is out of control and been arrested...I have order of protection due to his attemtpting to assualt me...at that time I used it and it worked great!

I purchased the SABRE Jogger pepper Spray, Model #P-22J-OC-US. It works fine. As far as the canister falling out of the hand held pouch. I have solved that problem by taking the canister out of the pouch and wrapping a rubber band around it about ¾ of the way down and then stuffing it back into the pouch. It ain't gonna fall out any more.

I run in the mornings before the sun comes up. I only jog on the sidewalks of a main road and like to think that I live in a safe neighborhood, but you never know what can happen. This gives me the peace of mind knowing that I'm not completely defenseless.

The velcro strap isn't super comfortable, but once I get going, I don't really notice it.

I test-spray (down wind) once a month to make sure it works. I'll definitely be purchasing again once it is empty.

The hand strap is moderately useful. You can hold the container without the strap almost as easily. The strap does allow you to open your fingers for grasping other items lightly / awkwardly but it positions the nozzle according to where the container is located along your fingers or in the palm. This may seem like the logical way it SHOULD work but after owning it, I have to practice holding and adjusting the spray nozzle in the event of an excited occasion for use.

The stream of spray doesn't give me too great of a sense of security as it is a random chance of initial contact with the first moment of release. The stream is a bit puny with a modest range and small field of coverage. In other words, it isn't fanned and it appears to go about 10 to 12 feet before arching to the ground. This is probably typical of all pepper spray devices....
ADDENDUM: I purchased another pepper spray canister elsewhere and it had similar performance. I conclude that these low end dispensers offer the same limits. I recall seeing a police video where an officer was trying to subdue a violent prisoner. The spray was a wide spread cloud with plenty of volume. I don't know if these are available to the public but a police grade mase dispenser is what I was hoping for.

I guess I was expecting an atomized spray with more force. I'll have a better idea of the effect when the neighbor's free ranging police dog becomes aggressive again. This is all about protecting our defenseless 8 inch tall Yorkie when I take her for a walk. We really need something more substantial but the laws do not allow for this unless I want to become an easy arrest.

When I go out alone, no matter where, I have it with me. When I first received this product, I tested it and sprayed it in open grass and it sprays well and far! Never had a reason to use it, but knowing I have it and one quick swipe to activate the canister is enough protection for me!

Bought it for dog protection on runs. Nice and lite. Stick it in a shorts pocket and use the hand strap as I approach a problem dogs home.

I've used it a couple of times but don't know that I actually hit either of them (it was dark). They did turn back. One still approaches but stays just out of range. The other stays in the yard. After using - find some water and wash your hands, arms and face ASAP. DO NOT wipe your nose or eyes or you will feel the burn.

10 feet is too close. A charging dog can cover that distance in a split second. I'm looking for one with more range.

It was pretty fast to get the product, when i got it. it seems to be good, it has a safely lock when it wont spray till you unlock and also the strap fits very wells on my hand and also hold on it when im using camera since im carrying couple of thousands of equipment Probably going to test it out tomorrow if it work , let you know if it work! it says it contains 35 bursts!
