My review is primarily for Mac owners,

This review is from: SABRENT (Arkview Display Series) USB-2011 USB to 2.0 DVI/HDMI/SVGA Display Adapter - 1920x1200, Female DVI/USB mini-B, DVI, VGA, HDMI - Windows 2000/XP/VISTA/7/MAC/LINUX (Personal Computers)
If you own a newer mac, it's probably an Imac, Mac Mini, a MacBook, or (if you're like me) all three. All great computers, but one disadvantage, you can't add a dual monitor video card. With this video adapter you can not only add another monitor, you can add up to four. I have three 24" monitors extending the desktop of my 24" Imac. The adapter also allows me to add monitors to my MacBook. They run off of the USB bus power so there is no power cord to worry about.
I have found that if you own a Mac, you want to get the white Arkview adapters. There are plenty of these adapters available for less money with just the UGA label(the black ones), but they don't seem to work right out of the box. I have purchased several of them from various places, and found that I can only initialize the black ones by plugging in the white one first. You need one adapter for each monitor you want to add. You have to buy the Arkview USB-2011 USB to 2.0 DVI/HDMI/SVGA Display to run a 24" monitor, but if you have smaller displays, you can get the lower priced ones that run a 1280x1024 or less display. Be sure to go to the DisplayLink website for the latest drivers. The disk that comes in the box is a mini CD. Those don't work very well with slot loading optical drives. I am using OS X 10.6 and having no trouble at all with my displays. If you want to do hardcore video editing and extreme graphics work, this adapter probably won't suit your needs. If you want to run Office, iTunes, Mail, Windows XP in VM Fusion, your browser, and a couple of other applications all at the same time, these adapters will work (they do for me). You can spend a few thousand dollars on a MacPro with dual video cards or you can buy an extra monitor and the adapter, and add them to your existing Mac for under $300.

I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Pro and I have two 24" external monitors. The laptop can only handle 1 additional monitor so I needed a solution. I did extensive research and came up with this item. I viewed the YouTube video and decided to give it a shot. NO REGRETS...It works as advertised and the set-up was easy and seamless. Insert the disc, run the install, reboot and VOILA you're up and running. I've had if for about a month and its as happy as can be. NO screen flickering or anything. SO if you need to add an additional monitor to your set-up this is definitely the way to go. I haven't tried it with my Vista laptop (says it's compatible with vista) but I'm not even going to try, vista is such a piece of crap I'm sure I'll be opening up a can of worms that I don't need.
Oh btw it's being advertised to give the impression that you can connect up to 6 monitors on 1 device. What it really means is you can add up to 6 monitors but the caveat is you'll need to buy 6 of these puppies. Just so you know.

This product was exactly what i needed to run an additional monitor on my macbook pro. I wasn't sure if it would work well on it as I have a 27" 1080p monitor and a 24" 1920x1200...I hooked this up to the 1920x1200 with no issues. The response is a little bit slower but nothing worth avoiding it over. Great product!

I purchased this item for an additional monitor for my laptop. Once you get it installed it works great. I currently am running vista ultimate (soon to upgrade to windows 7). It took 3 times to get the computer software to install properly. After you install the software, reboot your computer. You should get a little monitor icon in your taskbar. This is where I ran into trouble. The first two times, the program just didn't load right, no icon to manage the monitor. And trying to launch it from program menu did nothing. I ended up downloading the software from the website which worked better than the included cd. Its a mini cd, so if you have slot load cd/dvd drive watch out.
But now that its up an running its great. A little hesitation when opening or closing Outlook on that screen. But youtube videos, web pages etc all display great. Running at 1680 X 1050 which is the monitors max resolution.

Video does not work, plus poor customer service.,

The video on the monitor using this extension does not play at all. It's not my computer because video does work when I drag it to other monitors, but once I drag any video ( or images ) onto any monitor attached through the USB-2011, it stops moving and becomes garbled or distorted. Once I move it back to another monitor ( either the one attached through my laptop's original monitor extension or the laptop monitor ) everything goes back to normal. After testing several monitors with my new Lenovo i5 laptop built-in monitor extension plugin and with Sabrent's USB-2011, I realized that it's the USB-2011 adapter and not my laptop or monitor's fault since all the monitors work through the laptops monitor extension. Customer support was awful. They pretty much gave me the runaround and gave me scripted answers and eventually just ignored me. My specs are : - Lenovo Thinkpad Edge i5 Windows 7 15.6" w/ 8gb of Ram - Acer 22" ( did not work ) - AOC 24" ( did not work ) - Dell 19" ( did not work )

The product displayed is NOT the USB-2011. It's actually a similar product. You can go to the Sabrent website and see for yourself. I received a black product, and to date, it has been sent back to the merchant. Do not deal with RainbowofDeals. They will send you back the product saying that it'll work correctly. By correctly, they mean flickering images, unexplained blackouts and definitely not a HD 1920*1200 display. Since I've purchased the product, the merchant has disappeared from the listing. Very shady. Amazon has yet to get back to me in regards to this merchant.

I had some trouble getting this installed under Windows 7 where it would report the install package as being corrupt. Once I disabled my company's anti-virus program (McAfee) everything went smoothly. Also, contrary to what I read online Win7's Aero interface does work on/with this device. (I installed drivers from the website not from the CD as they were more recent) I would recommend this to anyone who would like another Hi-Res DVI output.

I bought this device for my MacBook Pro. The first day the device disconnected once but it went back online after disconnecting and connecting it again. The next days the disconnect issue deteriorated significantly and the device can't be brought back after disconnect and connect. A week later the device is next to useless.
