another wickled delicious tale from Bangs,
This review is from: Wicked Nights (The Castle of Dark Dreams Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
When we last tuned in to the continuing adventures of "the matchmaker from hell" - Sparkle Stardust, she was at the WooWoo Inn and up to old tricks or arranging romances, then between Thrain Davis and Cindy Harper, the proprietress of the eccentric Inn. This time she is back to pestering the Mackenzies. Now running a candy store - well, sex and chocolate do go so well together - Sparkle had targeted Eric McNair. She knows secrets about McNair - one that he is really Eric Mackenzie, he loves chocolate, is one of three "brothers" who run the Castle of Dark Dreams, and the brothers are not really brothers. She also knows Eric is a vampire. But then vamps have such a special spot in Sparkle's heart - and libido.Castle of Dark Dreams is a yummy new attraction in Live the Fantasy - sort of a romance Fantasy Island, just minus Tattoo! Live the Fantasy is a theme part, but this ain't no Six Flags Over Texas. This theme part is where women who dare, who want to do more than just read about fantasies can experience them. They can take "role-playing" to a whole new level! Castle dark is run by Eric and his two "brothers" Connall and Brynn. Hot on their trail is talk-show host Donna Nolan. She heard whispers about Castle of Dark Dreams and smells a great scoop, just the sort of sexy, titillating story that will up the ratings and satisfy the always hungry listener of her show. But when she faces the mysterious, sensual, drop-dead (literally...lol) Eric and looks into those cold blue eyes, her job is the last thing on her mind! Sparkle has decided Eric is too lonely for a man who should have "too tempting to touch tattooed across his chest", and is more than willing to lend her talents to see this situation changed. When she tells Eric, "think of me as your very own fairy godmother", the Mackenzie vamp should give up the fight because Sparkle knows best! Wicked Nights, obviously is the first of the "brothers" of Castle of Dark Dreams tales, following Sparkle and Ganymede through their cosmic mischief making. Dorchester re-released Master of the Night, and just out Night Bites (March 2005) as ones you will not want to miss in the series...Bangs, is sharp and just gets sharper. The "biting" humour, the sexy, steaming tales are addictive, leaving us breathless and eager for more Night tales!!!!!!!! Please note while Master of the Night and Night Bites are Dorchester's Love Spell, new Night Tales will come from Berkley with the start of Wicked Nights, and is a move into Trade Size books. In a market with vamps around every corner, Bangs gives you more "bang for the buck" in this racy, sexy, sizzling hot tale.

paranormal romance filled with humor and sex,
This review is from: Wicked Nights (The Castle of Dark Dreams Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Cosmic troublemaker Sparkle Stardust is drawn to Galveston, Texas where she targets three immortal beings; the owners of the Castle of Dark Dreams the main attraction in the adult theme park, Live the Fantasy. Her first stud is Eric McNair, a vampire who melts chocolates with one leering stare.Talk show host Donna Nolan reluctantly leaves Houston to conduct interviews at the Castle of Dark Dreams. Sparkle thinks she is the perfect person to shake Eric as these two opponents would be better than watching a heavyweight championship fight. When Eric and Donna meet, sparks fly high enough to light up the state of Texas. However, another vampire, holding Eric culpable for the death of his sibling, sees Donna as the bait to enact vengeance. Eric willingly risks immortality to save his beloved. WICKED NIGHTS is a typical Nina Bangs paranormal romance filled with humor and sex at times together with the right touch of suspense. The story line is action packed as Sparkle gets her wish, a bloodsucking hunk and a mortal battling one another and their attraction for each other. Readers will enjoy this wicked tale and look forward to novels starring Eric's siblings, a demon and an immortal warrior, that will surely sparkle with fun.

Being Wicked Was Never So Much Fun!!!,

This review is from: Wicked Nights (The Castle of Dark Dreams Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Ms. Bangs' has managed to do it again! "Wicked Nights" is a fun, sexy, scream of a ride. This fast-paced read is populated by some of the most memorable characters I've read. This is one series that I'm going to consume eagerly and suggest fellow readers to do the same. Donna Nolan talk show host with a program of anything goes finds herself leaving the sanity of New York, for the wild, wicked, bizarre of Texas, specifically the "Castle of Dark Dreams." Several of her callers have reported a strange situation there and she's been sent to investigate. She doesn't want to be there but it's not up to her. She knows she had it right when she meets Sprinkle Stardust owner of a decedent sweet shop with a tad problem of one mindedness when it comes to sensual vampires (remember anything goes), two plants that thrive when in a room with...let's just say sensual activity going on, a mind talking cat, a wanna be Merlin, and three of the most testosterone filled, yummy men in the world...and well you have an idea of what she's taken on. Too bad Eric the Evil...aka Eric McNair at first doesn't seem to want her or her talk show at his castle. It's also too bad these two can't keep their minds, hands, lips...well again you get the idea off of each other. What's a girl to do when she wants to believe but what she has to believe is almost too extraordinary to contemplate? Eric has a secret. Actually all three of them Eric, Conall, and Brynn have secrets to keep and they will at any cost...or so they think. Eric can't keep his mind off of the sexy talk show lady, and against all common sense he finds he doesn't want to. When a dark and evil creature from his past arrives...all bets are off. Instead of protecting secrets, he's going to protect Donna. But, will this make his heart vulnerable or will he finally find the strength he's been looking for? This story was a hoot! I can't wait for Conall's and Brynn's stories. Eric and Donna were a wonderfully entertaining couple and a thrill to read! Ms. Bangs' trademark humor and sensuality is plenty evident as well as her larger then life secondary characters! Ms. Bangs' is definitely a wonderful addition to the genre of paranormal romance.

If you liked Master of Ecstacy by Bangs, you'll be glad to know she's given us another hot vampire book. This time the setting is an adult theme park and the sexy setting is just the start. Cosmic troublemakers are at it again to bring two unlikely lovers together and Bangs trademark humor will keep you laughing. I give it two thumbs up.

What a fun read!,
This review is from: Wicked Nights (The Castle of Dark Dreams Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
I've been an avid fan of Nina Bangs' work for a while now, and wanted to read this book from the moment it hit the shelves. I've been lucky enough to read, and finish this book, and I can tell you to run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and buy this book right now!Talk show host Donna Nolan doesn't believe in things like love at first sight or things that go bump in the night. She's at the Castle of Dark Dreams for one thing only -- to find out the truth about the women who call into her show saying they were seduced all night long. Eric, the castle's resident vampire, is trying to protect his, and his brothers' true identities, and take down a powerful vampire. He doesn't count on Donna, or his attraction to her. Throw in a meddlesome chocolate shop owner, an avatar of Bast (who reminded me of my own cats), a wizard, and two plants who thrive on sexual energy, and you have a read that's going to keep you up all night long. I loved the interactions between these two characters, and their sexual chemistry scorched the pages. Kind of makes me want to have a brooding vampire all to my own.

WICKED NIGHTS was a fun romp!,

Late night talk show host Donna Nolan enjoys her job. However she would prefer staying in New York rather than having to go to Texas to "investigate" claims that there are real vampires in the Castle of Dark Dreams. These claims come from women Donna has dubbed the "pod women" and broadcasting her own discoveries from the castle is the only way to get them off her show. However, Castle of Dark Dreams really is more than it seems. Between the ghost that appears in her room and Eric the sexy "vampire", that won't leave her alone Donna has her hands full just trying to conduct an investigation into the paranormal. When Taurin, a man claiming to be a real vampire steps forward, everything Donna believes regarding the paranormal is put to the test. I truly enjoyed WICKED NIGHTS. I feel the plot was much more developed than the previous novel I read by Nina Bangs and I wasn't as frustrated with our hero Eric or heroine Donna, who I felt, were the primary focus of the story. Even though I feel like they fell in love rather quickly (what do you expect, this is a romance and takes place pretty much over a week) it was accomplished rather nicely. When Eric used Donnas' secret pirate fantasy to entice her, I really felt the connection and yearning between the two. I also thought the fantasy was very creative, erotic and well written out. I had a good laugh over the introduction of two secondary characters - Sweetie Pie and Jessica; and for once felt that Sparkle really was into making trouble on a cosmic level. In general, I've never taken her seriously and she has just made me laugh, however this round I was getting frustrated with her. Trouble really befit her in WICKED NIGHTS and I think as a reader we finally get to see more of who Sparkle really is, especially since she isn't getting what she wants. Sparkle is a reoccurring character and readers of Nina Bangs won't be disappointed with WICKED NIGHTS. If you have never read one of Miss Bangs novels, this is a great one to start with, and reading this story won't spoil other stories. WICKED NIGHTS continues the paranormal themed stories Nina Bangs writes with her cosmic troublemakers. With the introduction of three brothers, WICKED NIGHTS has the beginning of a fun and very interesting trilogy...I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of Brynns story!

Sparkle Stardust, the delightfully meddling cosmic troublemaker form Bang's other vampire series novels, is back and this time she has...virgins & chocolate?!Sparkle is posing as owner of Sweet Indulgence, the candy store in a fantasy theme park. Her mission: using only her ability to change forms, her innate bimbo powers, and the aid of her new apprentice (who looks like Vin Diesel but is only 4 & a virgin) she must hook up vampire Eric MacKenzie(800 year old bloodsucker and candy lover) with midnight national radio talk show host Donna Nolan. Donna's only in town for a week to investigate the Castle of Dark Dreams, where Eric and his other immortal pals work & play. But this time Sparkle has competition in the form of a Siamese cat! Asima, messenger and errand kitty of an egyptian goddess, has decided she wants to be the one to get our main couple together. And she'll stop at nothing, not even opera, to get her way! The main couple is feisty and realistic ( you know...for a vampire) as is the bad guy and other supporting characters. All told we have a sex demon, an immortal warrior, more vamps, a wizard, the special kitty, & Sparkle and her apprentice to show us more sneak peeks of the immortal world. And they are pretty darn funny as well! If you like the genre this is definitely a can't miss!

Wicked Nights,

This review is from: Wicked Nights (The Castle of Dark Dreams Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Vampires normally want to avoid publicity, so falling for a talk show host is rather against their better interests, you would think. However, Eric is learning that every rule has an exception, and Donna is his. With a full complement of cosmic troublemakers and a couple of hormone driven plants along, a good time is sure to be had, if the pesky little ancient feud Eric has with a slightly anti-social vampire doesn't get in the way of romance.**** More people would be cat people if there were kitties running around like the ones in Ms. Bangs' world. Since Eric's "brothers'' look just as intriguing as he does, I think Sparkle, Deimos, and Asima have a long career ahead of them. ****

Talk show host Donna Nolan is less than pleased when she has to take her show on the road to the Castle of Dark Dreams. She considers herself open-minded but has been bombarded with calls from women claiming that a pod of vampires are draining them nightly. Donna doesn't expect to find any vampires at the Castle, but much to her surprise she finds a whole host of supernatural people, including Eric the vampire, Brynn the demon, and Conall the immortal warrior. And this list doesn't even include cosmic troublemaker, Sparkle Stardust, the telepathic cat, Asima, and the resident wizard, Holgarth!Sparkle Stardust is determined to play matchmaker between Eric and Donna. Readers familiar with Nina Bangs' work will remember Sparkle from the Woo Woo Inn stories. Sparkle delights in putting two mismatched couples together and watching the sparks fly! Will Eric's love of chocolate carry over into a love for Donna? Nina Bangs can always be counted on for combining the humorous with the sensual. Sparkle Stardust is one of the best continuing characters and her quirkiness only improves with each book! Asima was a fantastic addition as she and Sparkle despise each other as both have very different views as to what is appropriate for attracting a man. Sparkle favors the obvious, such as dresses cut to the navel, while Asima prefers a subtler approach. Perhaps the funniest scene involves Asima as a fashion accessory who begins singing-as a cat- at the opera! This reviewer couldn't stop laughing at this scene, and this is the second time reading the book! Of course, the whole concept of the plants, Sweetie Pie and Jessica, is simply a stroke of genius. WICKED NIGHTS is a hilarious romp through the supernatural. Readers will appreciate the little things that make a story by Nina Bangs so delightful. Once again, Nina Bangs demonstrates why she is such a successful writer! COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES |
