5.0 out of 5 stars Two Brazilian masters in a Reference Piano & Guitar Duet, February 21, 2006
By
This review is from: SAMAMBAIA (Audio CD)

Creativeness, high inspiration, good taste, master command of their instruments - Helio Delmiro on guitar and Cesar Camargo Mariano at the piano.

For those people who seeks for cross references, there goes a list of reference albums which had the Delmiro & Mariano touch: many Elis Regina's albums like 'Elis & Tom', 'Elis (1974)' and 'Essa Mulher'. Delmiro also shows up in Sarah Vaughan albums recorded in Brazil. Cesar Camargo Mariano is one of the most important arrangers for singers in Brazil. He's recorded with practically all great Brazilian songbirds and crooners including Elis Regina, Nana Caymmi, Leny Andrade, Eliseth Cardoso, Alaide Costa, Gal Costa, Joao Bosco, and Emilio Santiago. Also recorded with John Pizzarelli and Yo Yo Ma.

This album shows three Brazilian standards - the traditional 'Carinhoso' and 'Rancho Fundo' and a medley of Milton Nascimento's 'Cais', 'San Vicente' and 'Milagre dos Peixes'. All other tracks are sensitive originals by Delmiro and Mariano. All swinging piano and guitar duets.

A must-have album of top modern contemporary Brazilian instrumental. This is a classic in the Brazilian instrumental library.
