Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Samsung SyncMaster 930b is a 19-inch analog and digital TFT-LCD monitor delivering crisp, clean text and bright, vivid colors. This display offers a 700:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 1280 x 1024 resolution, 160/160 degree viewing angle, scanning frequency of 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical and 0.294mm pixel pitch.

The SyncMaster 930b display offers the option of using either a digital or analog interface for viewing images and text. The Digital Video Interface (DVI) ensures a shaper, cleaner image and a more accurate representation of the original video source. Since video starts out digital in a PC graphics card, the digital output is directly interfaced to the digital input of the LCD panel and always provides the optimum quality image. In addition, no adjustments are required with a digital display, even when randomly changing resolutions. Input connectors for this display include 15-pin D-sub and DVI-D.

Available in black, the SyncMaster 930b delivers a maximum of 16.2 million colors. The monitor is Windows Plug and Play DDC 2B compatible. To ensure years of reliable performance, the SyncMaster 930b is backed by a three-year parts and labor warranty, including the backlight. Toll-free, 24/7 support is also available for the life of the display.

Product Description

Sage-like advice, when purchasing a computer monitor display, has always been "larger is better". That, of course, meant that if you had a conventional monitor, the size of the cabinet would occupy a considerable amount of work space. With LCD technology, this 19" screen monitor is less than 8 inches deep - with its tabletop stand. When compared to a CRT monitor, you'd need a CRT screen of 21 inches to match the image on this 19 inch flatpanel LCD. What about performance? This LCD screen delivers an 8 millisecond rated response time that translates as fast enough to display fast, action games with absolute realism. With a 700:1 contrast ratio and 300 cdm2 brightness rating, images are sharp, bright, and beautiful. This model goes one step further. Until recently, most computers came with Analog monitor connectors. The 930B has both analog and digital connectors to work with the old as well as new computers. And it's compatible to work with Windows PC and Macintosh models. This screen helps make computer use more pleasure than ever. This is a perfect opportunity for you. 160-degree viewing angle, horizontal and vertical Analog RGB and DVI digital inputs Picture enhancement technologies include MagicBright II, MagicColor and MagicTune Up to 1280x1024 resolution / Safe mode offers down-scaling to UXGA 0.294mm pixel pitch Windows Plug and Play DDC 2B compatible SyncMaster 930B is backed by a three-year parts and labor warranty, including the backlight. I bought the 930B as a large LCD monitor for my mini mac. The mini mac has program icons all along the bottom of the screen, so lots fo real estate is needed.

I've also bought a Samsung 17 inch monitor for my PC so I'm no stranger to Samsung.

Installation is easy. Just screw on the base, and then hook up the power cord and monitor connection.

Although the instructions don't mention it, to get at the power cord and monitor connection, a plastic cover must be removed. Took me a few minutes to figure that one out.

The monitor worked straight away, no problems, stuck pixels, or whatever.

Needless to say, the extra real estate that a 19 inch LCD offers is well enjoyed after the price is forgotten.

I changed the resolution to 1280 by 1728 and I was away to the races.

A small point to consider is buy yourself a male-to-male DVI connection. It sharpens up the image a little in comparison to the VESA connector supplied with the monitor.

If you have PC without a DVI connection, you can buy a graphics board very cheaply.

The results of the DVI sharpens up the details a little. Well worthe the $15 investment in a DVI cable (you can find them on the web at that price).

The monitor base is unadjustable which means you can't raise the level of the monitor. It's a minor point to consider.

The screen is very bright (can be adjusted) however I always use my Samsungs at factory default.

The 8ms response, and the 700:1 contrast means this is a quality screen. No worries there.

The buttons at the bottom of the screen are black and a little hard to get at. Luckily, your not likely to use them.

All in all, this is a very good LCD screen.

I have just upgraded from a low budget17 in LCD from NEC/Mitsubishi. I upgraded for the bigger screen but wow! The picture quality and speed is nothin less than amazing. I felt it was a little pricey but the fellows at the store where I bought it said that for gaming, video, DVD movies and other things I do, this is a must. I am pleased to say that they where 100% correct. This monitor is more than I bargained for. Great response time 8ns and 700:1. seeing is believing, worth every dime. I am very pleased.

No Ghosting, extremely fast rate 8ms (almost unbelievable, but I am yet to experience a single ghosting incident while gaming or watching movies). Very good picture and very good design.

My only problem is that it is not made solid, and while punching your LCD screen should never be a habit, I still fear it will fall or break. That beings said, the base is very stable, and the chances of the LCD dropping off your desk is highly unlikely if even possible. Overall an excellent product well worth the price.

I got this monitor to replace a 17inch Sony LCD. My first impression was wow. I did not think that the improvement would be so big, the color's seem more life like and simply look amazing. Once you work on a 19inch LCD you will never be able to go back to a smaller size. The picture on this Smasung is outstanding and in games it is simply beautiful. I have worked with 19inch LCD's where they were slow in response time, this is defffinatley not one of those. One thing i should point out is that this monitor does have a DVI port on it, however it does not come with a DVI cable, avg price of a DVI cable can be around $30-$100 which blew me away. I got a $30 cable at a computer store and i feel that it was well worth it.

I looked around at LCDs for about a week before deciding on this one. I wanted one for < $400 with good specifications and a 3 yr warranty. This Samsung fit the bill perfectly. I picked it up at my local BEST BUY for $ 350 after mail-in-rebates.

The setup took about 5 minutes and the picture quality is VERY GOOD, not to mention the 8ms (that's really fast for this price) response time. It has both digital and analog inputs, but only comes with an analog cable. As others have noted, the screen is very bright. But that's good news becuase you can lower the brightness level and hence expect the backlight to last longer. I also like the fact that the power supply is built-in. And,last but not the least it comes with a full 3 year warranty which means you DO NOT have to spend another $50 for additional warranty programs.

In my opinion, it is one of the best monitors available in the 19" LCD class.Overall I would highly recommend it.

I bought this for < $300 USD at a discount warehouse; works like a charm. 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz and its crystal clear with WinXP "ClearType" smoothing enabled (and crystal clear without it, as well, I simply prefer the smoothed look as opposed to the blocky look).

I game and work on graphic design, as well as write, so I spend a lot of time looking at a screen. Previously I used a Sony Trinitron 17" Flat CRT and I didn't think any TFT could come close to that clarity -- much less a 19" display ... but this one is very close. In day-to-day use I hardly notice the difference at all. In gaming, I have not seen any ghosting; response is instant. The only downside is low max res. Would have been absolutely perfect if it went up just one stage higher than 1280 x 1024, to really take advantage of all that screen space while gaming. But otherwise, it's geat!
