Customer Reviews

They are great quality and the colors are fabulous.

I find that I use those colors the most anyway, as many of the ones in this 10-pack are very dark to use as highlighters, like the purple and blue shades.
Gen of North Coast Gardening
The colors are awesome and the ink dries really fast.

I love these markers and I've had them for nearly a year. To be fair to the other reviewer, I don't highlight a huge quantity of text, and some--not all--of the colors are too dark for that purpose. The ink is too wet for highlighting thin pages, so I would never use them for scriptures, parchment, etc.

I use them for organizing- to highlight names, topics, headings, folder tabs, etc., for genealogy and other folders full of files, and I bought these because I needed the color range.

For this use they are absolutely PERFECT, long lasting, clear and smooth to use. I only saw the other review because I was coming back for more- my daughter steals them for coloring in her projects, and they are wonderful for that use, too- card making, etc.

If you use the color method for organizing family history/genealogy lines, this is the best set on the market, having the color range necessary (even the elusive RED!) for accurate coding. For what it's worth.

I have this highlighter style in Yellow only.

The ink cartridge is considerably smaller than the barrel that conceals most of it, but you can tell by tipping the pen and observing the liquid's displacement. It runs out kinda quick for this reason - and that it bleeds like new from-new-until-empty. Most highlighters will moderate their flow after a break-in period, but not this one; it "puddles" till the fat lady sings, and I sometimes had to blow on the page to keep it from soaking through (the book I was marking had thin page stock).

I also think the spring loaded end-cap is a bit of overkill, as it doesn't break-in with use and requires unnecessary pressure to pop on and off.

All in all, I think they are selling a Stylish Look here, and I was much more satisfied with the Bic "Bright Liner Grips" I also used. They lasted a lot longer.

I purchased these highlighters to use with the Child Training Bible and am very pleased with them. I was worried they would bleed through and that some of the colors would be too dark, but they have been great to work with.

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to come on to Amazon.com and rate a product for poor performance. But first the good...

PROS:

-Variety of colors

-Smooth, even ink flow dries quickly, doesn't bleed on your hands while you use them.

-The fine point on the edge of the tip is great for writing down a quick note if you have to and the broad base of the tip covers your regular 12 pt. font nicely without highlighting the line of text above or below the current line you are highlighting.

CONS:

-The darker shades (red, dark blue) are too dark. You can barely read the font that you "highlighted".

-THEY DON'T LAST!!! -This reason alone is why I gave them 2 stars. If the ink would last longer than one day, these would be great highlighters. However, I can empty out an entire pen in 1-2 days of highlighting texts when I study. To give you an idea, you can highlight about 20 pages of single-spaced 12 point font microsoft word document pages before the pen will be completely empty!

These are too expensive to run out that quickly. Buy an Accent Highlighter instead, it will last MUCH longer.

I will start by admitting that the only reason I bought these highlighters is because I cannot find any other place with this large of a selection of colors. Honestly this is not even enough colors. I need at least 15 to 20 different colors, but I guess this will have to do for now, as no where seems to have more than this.

Duration: While these highlighters do not last a massively long time, I wasn't particularly disappointed in their performance. I use them for highlighting musical/opera scores (each character is highlighted in a different color) and I got through about 2.5 lead roles in one highlighter. So, basically I just try to make the lead roles have traditional (orange, yellow, green, blue, pink) colors, and use the exclusive colors (blue, purple, red, salmon, light purple) for smaller roles.

Darkness: I did not notice a problem with the highlighting being too dark to read. Granted, if you use darker colors (red, blue, purple) and slowly drag the highlighter so that tons of ink comes out in one spot, it will bleed through and be much darker. However, even when this happens, it is usually fine because all highlighters fade over time. No highlighter keeps it's same level of highlighting beyond a day or two. They instantly fade as they dry. The darker colors here may be difficult to read one day, but if you put the book away for a day and look tomorrow (or even an hour later), it will be fine. When I say put it away, I don't mean you have to let each page dry in the open, I highlight the entire score, close the book and put it back on the shelf. When I get it back out to read the next day, I can read all parts perfectly fine with no troubles. Also, on the fading, this does not affect the exclusiveness of the colors.

I have to agree with a previous reviewer. These highlighters are extremely short-lived. I only use yellow, green, and pink (any other shade is WAY too dark and impossible to read)... and they run out within 3-4 days of light/medium use. Considering how expensive they are to buy individually, that's a real smack to your wallet.

(Un)fortunately, they are simply the best highlighting ink on the market. EXTREMELY BRIGHT, beautiful, and sticks for years without losing brightness. It does smudge, but just don't pass your finger on it for the first 10-15 seconds and you're fine.
