5.0 out of 5 stars A Musical Stairway To The Stars!, April 28, 2002
This review is from: SANCTUM SANCTUORUM (Audio CD)
With this recording, Constance Demby, the undisputed founder of sacred symphonic space music, has created a musical stairway to the stars. In a word, 'Sanctum Sanctuorum' is remarkable. Not only musically sophisticated and gorgeously produced, the piece as a whole is a deepening of Demby's important work to new heights. At least initially, we could not help but to be reminded of the well-known Requiems by Faure and Durufle. But 'Sanctum' sets the standard for sacred symphonic space music for the new millennium reaching realms not possible prior to this work. Finally, electronic music technology has caught up with Demby's compositional genius to produce a benchmark that transcends the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another masterpiece, just when we needed it the most!, November 13, 2001
By
"xpogi" (WICHITA, KS USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SANCTUM SANCTUORUM (Audio CD)
On the twentieth of September I wrote the following thank you note to Ms. Demby:

"I just had to write and express my sincere thanks and let you know how much comfort your latest CD has been. I consider you one of God's greatest gifts to the people of our times. God bless America and God bless Constance Demby!"

A bit over-sentimental? Perhaps, but heart-felt just the same. The coincidental releasing of this CD right after September 11th seems almost providential. If ever there was music that could heal, this is it -- and if ever we needed healing, it is now.
If you are not familiar with the music of Constance Demby, you should know that she is no "ordinary" New Age artist. I call her music "Ethereal Music of Substance". Although it has a definite otherworldliness quality, it is musically complex. Sometimes with complicated counterpoint reminiscent of J. S. Bach, sometimes tender yet emotional like Rachminoff or Tchaikovsky, sometimes powerful and majestic like Mozart. Yet this album is a bit different than the rest. More than anything else, it is a prayer. The innocent and sincere prayer of a child, a prayer for peace, a prayer for healing. Regardless of your religious affiliation or beliefs, if you are a person attuned to the spiritual, you will find that your very heart and soul resonates with this music. Ms. Demby has given the world something very special in this recording. Something very special indeed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Constance Demby: Sanctum Sanctuorum, March 12, 2003

Constance Demby continues her trademark melodious symphonic space-music in this calming album. This time, she has infused chants and solo choir to give it a definite Christian flavour.

It becomes a struggle to stay stressed out while listening to this inspiring album and I've tried.

Constance Demby's Santum Sanctuorum is one of my top 5 "desert island" CDs, a must for all those who care deeply about music. Prepare to be shattered and then reconstructed by some of the most beautiful sounds committed to disc. A fascinating mixture of gregorian chant and this composer's unique "Sacred Space Music", Santum grows in stature and magnificence with each hearing. If you can only afford one CD, make this one your choice. 100% life enhancing and a major contribution to the Constance Demby discography!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sanctum... Could not have come at a more appropriate time., November 13, 2001
This review is from: SANCTUM SANCTUORUM (Audio CD)
From the beginning, you know that this is the music of healing. Our world changed forever on September 11th. Since then, we've started to heal, to try to understand more about the world as well as ourselves. The music is deeply moving, stirring. It's the music of a truly new age, bringing you to the cosmic reaches of your spirit. When I listen to Sanctum, my heart soars and I realize that anything is possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace and Tranquility, February 4, 2002
This review is from: SANCTUM SANCTUORUM (Audio CD)
"Sanctum touches the inner peace we so often dare not to take time for during our schedules of work and obligations. The beautiful tones and colours are as deep and penetrating as the cover on the CD. Our world needs more of this positive, soothing music. A real must buy!"

I love this CD, it conveys such a Holy reverance and praise I play it all the time in my Massage Therapy practice. It produces such a Sacred Space that it transcends time and place, it will transport one from whatever enviornment they are in directly into the Holy of Holies. There are wonderful tones and Gregorian chants, beautiful voices, praises, there is a holy silence included. I just highly recommend this CD, Constance Demby has risen to be one of my favorite composers and artist. She is very intune with Heart and Spirit and was very open to GOD to be the vessel to create this wonderful work of Sacred Holiness and Healing.
If one closes their eyes and listens to this CD you will be raptured to such Heavenly highs and peace it will bring Healing to your Soul. It is a deep song of the soul that is recorded here. GOD be Praised and you be Blessed....JB

5.0 out of 5 stars Into The Realms of Sacredness, April 21, 2008
This review is from: Sanctum Sanctorum (Audio CD)
The first will note tell you, it is time for peace...your body will slink into a rare deep relaxation long sought after a hard life. The child chanting reminds us of an innocence we thought we lost, but did not.

This is definitely not music for driving or operating heavy machinery, conversation background noise or motivational music as your knees will simply not hold you up. It will collapse you into a cloud of surrender.

This is music for the times when you want to enter the sacred realms of your inner sanctum...to experience the sublime of yourself. It has tapped into the Holy....the essence of the spirit that is all of us and brings the Holy, through sound, into your being. It may make you cry, it may put you to sleep, but it will move and caress you. It calms and speaks to your emotional body in sounds, wordless music....and brings stability to chaos.
Make a ritual of it.... turn off all electricity, bathe in salts, light candles, annoint your body with fragrant oils, wear soft fabrics....lie down in this ambience..... and drift away.
Walk in Beauty.

I play peaceful music that encourages relaxation in my acupuncture practice, and everyone loves this CD. It is reminicent of monks chanting, with a 'new-age' tilt.
