I certainly would not use this on my Wusthof knives, but for my Henckels and
Gehring knives this worked great. They were REALLY dull...have not been sharpened in over a year, and I ran them through the Shark a few times and they went right through tomatoes with ease, no pressure needed. I do have a diamond sharpener that I bought that doesnt work near as well as this thing...for $10 it was a great investment, even if just to get a bit more life out of some knives not worth taking in for re-edging, but good for everyday.

Let's just put it this way, a relative of mine bought several of these and gave them as gifts. For $5 that seems reasonable.

It ruined a lot of peoples knives. I have 3 kitchen knives that needed to be professionally sharpened to fix the damage done.

My other friends and relatives all had similar experiences. Even on basic knives with standard blade angles, this thing is a piece of garbage.

If you have quality knives, either have them professionally cared for, learn to use diamond stones or get an expensive, 3 stage Chef's Choice sharpener.

This is definitely one of the few items on television that actually works the way it's supposed to. It comes ready to use and works with minimal effort. We have currently run out of things to sharpen!
