2.0 out of 5 stars Awfully thin
We ordered this as a companion to the official SAT study guide. This volume was awfully thin and didn't provide enough additional info to be worth it.

This review is from: SAT Preparation in 28 Days: A Companion to The Official SAT Study Guide (Kindle Edition)
I have been an SAT tutor for 7 years and have never offered a complete review program for just 4 weeks. So I checked out this book to see what I was missing. I found that it contains very brief descriptions of techniques that work on this exam, but there is nowhere near enough explanation of how to use them to help students. Plus 100 vocabulary words a week for 4 weeks are given. This is only going to hurt students, not help them.

If a student only has 4 short weeks to prepare for this test, they should focus on 50 words that are commonly found on the SAT if they study vocabulary at all. They will never remember even half of these 400+ words well enough for the SAT. I advise students to get the Official SAT Study Guide for the practice tests and to look around for guides with much more in-depth explanations. You don't need a guide to tell you which practice test to do when. Just jump in and start doing them. And even more importantly, go back and figure out what you got wrong and why!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent help for my son take the SATs, July 15, 2011
This review is from: SAT Preparation in 28 Days: A Companion to The Official SAT Study Guide (Kindle Edition)
My son took the SATs and didn't score as well as he had hoped - he only scored a 1930, so I bought him the SAT Preparation Days Companion ebook, a 4 week prep course, before he took the test again. When he re-tested, he beat his initial score by 268 points, scoring a 2198, a high enough score for him to apply to some of the Ivy-league schools and more than enough for him to apply to a Big Ten school that he's been eying. This really gave him a much needed bump in his overall score, I couldn't be happier with the results.
