5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly and easy to assemble.
This is an inexpensive HDD enclosure so you aren't getting the highest quality available, but it works perfectly and is easy to assemble. I got it for only $7 and it was worth every penny. If you are going to rough up your hard drive you might look for something with a rubberized coating or a single-body design with a screw-in lid. This is a 2-piece top and bottom...

5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and works well, February 13, 2009

Exactly what I wanted at an excellent price. Very happy with the purchase! It worked perfectly the first time it was plugged into a Windows Vista laptop. I had replaced the laptop's hard drive with a larger drive, and didn't want to throw away the old drive, so I put the old one in this enclosure!

There is a PUSH BUTTON at the opposite end from the light and usb socket. I tried to pry the thing open and could have easily ruined it. Included instructions on how to open the hard drive enclosure would make a nice improvement to the product.

I should have paid more attention to the reviews, as the problem I had was already explained in a review!

4.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 inch Hard Drive Enclosure, December 23, 2008

This review is from: 2.5^ SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure Case - 500FB Max Capacity (Electronics)
I purchased this 2.5 inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure and what I really like about is it's light and comes with a carrying case. I don't know who makes it because there's no manufacturer's name on the box, but it comes from China, there are no assembly instructions and it came with instructions on how to use disk management to create a signature and format an OEM disk but they're written in really bad English grammar. The HDD mount is made of a light silver-colored plastic material but it seems strong enough to safely mount the HDD with four screws and screw driver included. The USB cable includes a Y-connector for extra power if your PC's USB port can't support the drive's power requirements so you'll need two USB ports on your PC to use it if you need extra power to run your drive -- this mostly applies to 7200 rpm drives, not 5400 rpm drives. I purchase a silver colored aluminum enclosure, but the black one also looks nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good 2.5" Enclosure, November 5, 2010
This review is from: 2.5^ SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure Case - 500FB Max Capacity (Electronics)
Although I am a bit skeptically about cheap HDD or SSD enclosures, this product has been very superb in doing it's function.

Other than that, I honestly don't know what to say; The enclosure just works.

USB 2.0 connection (On average when compared to previous enclosure data rates from the internal drive were almost exactly the same)

Easy installation (Pop off both metal parts, install hard drive, then flip over and secure hard drive with included screws with included screwdriver)

Light indicator for use (Red is read/writing; Green is Idle)

:) Be sure to give this thing a try because it's VERY cheap and very effective :D

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work, September 27, 2010

Using this casing, my computer was unable to recognize that the hard drive was connected. I tried it on a variety of computers with the same result. Once I put the hard drive into a different casing it worked fine. I highly recommend this seller, all my other casings are from them and work without problem, I just don't recommend this casing.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Affordable Miracle!, September 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 2.5^ SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure Case - 500FB Max Capacity (Electronics)
This 2.5" SATA HD Enclosure saved me time, money and peace of mind. My old HP laptop took a dump and I had valuable data on my hard drive that I needed to access. I found out that my motherboard was fried and it would be smarter just to buy a new laptop. So instead of paying Geek Squad to rescue the files, I took it on my own as a challenge. I didn't even know that hard drive enclosures existed for internal hard drives, but I learned that they did (and they are affordable!). So, I ended up buying the enclosure. It is a little tricky to install your old hard drive into the enclosure, but it does fall into place. I ended up plugging in the product with the supplied USB cable to my new laptop and success came my way. I was able to extract ALL my files from my old hard drive and now I use the enclosure as a back-up. It was a great purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable enclosure for a SATA HDD, September 4, 2010
This review is from: 2.5^ SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure Case - 500FB Max Capacity (Electronics)
This is an inexpensive external enclosure that seems to do the job. I expected it to be a minimal device for the low price, and it is. Having said that the device looks great and my first usage went smoothly in making a Windows 7 backup image.

I believe that the key to getting a good working life on this lightly built device will be to minimize its physical usage. By that I mean use it as often as you want for storing data, but, try not to repeatedly install/remove the HDD and, especially, don't repeatedly plug/unplug the mini USB cable into the enclosure's socket. Plug the cable into the case's outlet and leave it, if you can, to prevent breaking the sockets connection to its pcb over time. AT

Inexpensive, looks beautiful and the hard-drive slid in smoothly into place.
My DELL laptop (Latitude D830; will never buy a DELL again) had crashed and I needed to access the laptop's 160 GB SATA 7200 RPM hard-drive to retrieve my data.
From unpacking the enclosure to accessing my hard-drive took me less than 2 mins.

I read the reviews on Amazon and decided to purchase. Installation was super easy. Put my old hard drive in, was kind of scared to break it because you kind of have to wiggle it in and then make sure it's in place, but when you do it works great. Have been using it for quite awhile and it seems to protect my hard drive well and it functions perfectly when plugged in. Great product for the price!
