The max power on this is 500ma. My drive needs almost 800 and is only 100gig. The instructions are almost in english. This case fits tight. No room for the insulator my drive recomends on the PCB side of the drive. Another lesson in you get what you pay for.

When my stepdaughter fried my laptop, I pulled the hard drive and put it in this case. It works perfectly, just keep in mind you need two USB outlets in order to use.

Recently I purchased this hard drive enclosure for my 500g western digital drive. Initially, it worked just fine. But after about 2 weeks, it stopped. The internal connections and the USB connection no longer worked. If I held the drive in a certain position and held the the USB plug in a certain way it worked just fine. It was not the hard drive, because I switched the drive into another hard drive enclosure and it worked without any problem.

I would not recommend this product.

I was extreamly dissatisfied when I discovered that this product doesn't work. After trying the device on several NEW computers and hard drives, the same results would occur every time.

I'm also a certified computer technician.

I know for less than $5 I should give this 5 stars but for some reason I am giving it 4. The leather pouch that comes with it is poorly sewed together, but it works. The cable that comes with it is very decent, the enclosure is sturdy except I didn't like the cheap screws, be careful not to over tighten as it will strip them. After pulling out a hard drive from a dead laptop and putting the hard drive in this enclosure, plugged it in and worked perfectly. So if you are looking for a really cheap functional external hard drive enclosure this will work great. I would spend more money though if you are going to be using it a lot and moving it around. In my case it will stay plugged in and not moved so it should be just fine.

It is ok, works fine but it is a challenge to fix the hard drive. They could have made a better design. I had to file off the plastic sides so that the hard drive fits into the casing.

cheap packaging, rough build. It's easy to put the HD in it but when i was trying to plug the usb plug, the port on the enclosure broke. the white piece of plastic came out of the port. useless. Maybe I was just having some bad luck?

works as it is supposed to, good price, the only reason did not give it 5 stars is the tiny screws you must use to put it together

No major complaints, item works as described and I was able to do what I needed to. I wish the material was a higher quality - but you get what you pay for.

Attached an old (functional) hard drive to this adapter. It received power, but my new laptop didn't recognize it or acknowledge it at all. I'm still trying to find out why, looking up instructionals, searching for drivers, manuals, etc. It may be that I'm just not smart enough to figure it out, but I don't think I should have to be--the thing is advertised as an easy, plug-and-play kind of thing. If it were presented as a piece of hardware that would require a good amount of know-how, I'd be more understanding, but it was presented as something easy, which it's not--so, I'm disappointed.
