I bought this because my computer crashed (not sure if it was motherboard, memory or CPU at this point), and I needed to get the files off of the machine. My only convenient option was to use my laptop. The cable worked flawlessly. I just hooked one end up to the internal hard drive and the other to the eSATA port on my laptop (I used the desktop to power the internal hard drive as the power supply was still working fine). All of the files were easily transferred. Now to troubleshoot the desktop...

These cables are exactly as described, eSATA (no notch) on one side and regular SATA on the other. If this is the cable you need, look no further. This is the best price I could find, and they were delivered quickly.

Used to connect Laptop to another larger hard drive for cloning.
Needed power from my Desktop to make it work.
Cable worked as advertised.

If you have a bunch of old internal hard drives and an eSATA port, this works exactly as you'd want it to. It is so much faster than a USB 2.0 to HDD adapter and just as convenient. No need to open your case and unbolt a HDD then bol. t in and connect another. Just unplug the eSATA and power cable of the HDD sitting on top of my case and plug in the other. The best part is that it can be done while the computer is running and it will detect the HDD just like it would a thumb drive. I have about 10 old HDD that are all about 80-300 GB each which I can now use like thumb drives for whatever I need them for. Best $4 I spent in a while. I have another eSATA port, I might be getting another soon.

I have used this cable occasionally for data transfers, backups, external drive boots. It works well and it works fast. You have to but a sata power adapter kit though; it only cost me about 5 bucks extra. The only bad thing is that when you plug the sata connections to the HDD the connections are almost too big and you have to carefully fit them on. They should make it with a connection that is less wide to make room for the sata power connection.

Why wait for those long network or USB back ups when you can use this cable to connect directly to a ESATA enabled TB hard drive. Makes things go much faster.

I connected this cable to an internal SATA DVD-RW drive and out an opened slot plate to an eSATA port off the rear motherboard IO panel; my other 7 internal sata ports are used by Hard Drives. Cable was a little snug on both ends due to the fact neither the eSATA port nor DVD drive had EVER been used (snug is better than loose). I unplugged both ends and the 2nd time the cable went in perfectly fine on each end. DVD drive was recognized and functioning without rebooting. This cable from gamesalor is perfect. Exactly as pictured. It was at least 36 inches long (or possibly 37 as described).

I have never found this cable in a brick-and-morter store in the US anywhere, and online it is $7-12 on any other website. I like this listing for the price...if your patient.

I ordered this product from the seller gamesalor (free shipping). Item shipped immediately, with tracking number, and took 6 business days from overseas. Didn't bother me a bit eliminating the middle man. We all know where these cables are manufactured.

The pictures clearly show that the sata end has a locking clip on it that makes a more secure connection with the hard drive. They need to change the picture to show the actual product they will be shipping. I think this was fulfilled by Amazon themselves, so I don't know whose mistake it was. However.....

I could live with no locking clip on the sata end of this cable, but I would rather have one or a different cable. The problem was the cable would not work - at all. Tried numerous times. Verified the ports and drives were working. Had another sata/eSata cable just like it, albeit higher quality that came with my motherboard, and I just ordered this one in case my cable is damaged or lost. I use my sata/eSata cable once weekly at least for external backups, so I will be looking for a different cable to purchase. Too bad, price for the pictured product looked like a great deal. Amazon was great about handling this whole situation.
