1.0 out of 5 stars What a rushed waste December 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Honestly, I had difficulty finishing this book. Coming out of an abusive relationship, moving into a new place, and then falling in love instantly? Please. Having a "come to Jesus" moment with your junky ex and then her dealer calmly escorts her out of a party? Sure. Having someone who is your best and only friend suddenly tell you getting your a** beat is probably all your fault and she's going to go get with your ex? Ridiculous. In short, the plot line was rushed, the situations far-fetched, and the book was just not my style.

ARR Received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I so needed a story like this today. Every now and then a simple story about falling in love without letting the complications of your past is just what you need to put a smile on your face. I feel like I this story just rinsed the bad taste of the last book I read right out of my mouth.

Bree has decided to leave her abusive boyfriend but things don't go as planned, as she musters up the strength to tell him she is leaving - she barely escapes with her life. But Bree is not the typical book heroine that suffers from abuse and tries to bury it. She is going to deal with it - embrace life and move on.

She doesn't want to be just a survivor,
She doesn't want to be known as a victim,
She just wants to be Bree again.

When she is moving into her new home the Josh catches her eye. He has bad-boy written all over him. Covered with ink, piercings and beautiful green eyes. Josh and Bree have an instant connection of attraction but that connections goes far beyond that. Her pain stirs up memories of his past - suffering that he and his roommate Eric have battled with for some time.

"What if I fall for you? But... you don't fall for me?"
I hate the guy who did this to her. Her head is filled with self-doubt and jaded memories of a toxic relationship. If she could just see that I am the guy who is about to change all that.
"I want you to fall for me, Bree. That's the plan. Don't worry about me falling for you. I'm already tripping my way to you...just a couple more clumsy steps."

There is a particular scene towards the end of this book that just hit me right in the heart.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stilted July 30, 2013
By Lisa
Format:Kindle Edition
I think one of the biggest things that annoyed me about this book was the stilted language, particularly in dialgue. Rarely do people speak and not use contractions. On top of that, it just seemed highly imlausible that an abused woman would suffer so few psychological issues after AND jump so quickly into another relationship. The book also could use better editing, the most irksome and most repeated error being in to. Into is one word, excepting certain circumstances (none of which occurred in this book).

1.0 out of 5 stars Rushed and Unrealistic - Possible Spoilers April 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't even know where to start with this book. Somehow I managed to finish the book, even though I skimmed.

Bree is in an abusive relationship. The book starts with her having a plate broken over her head, and the police find her boyfriend on top of her choking her. She was unconscious and in the hospital. So, there is problem 1. He would have been charged with attempted murder. I don't think they would have needed to wait to see if she wanted to press domestic abuse charges. They would have only been waiting to see if she woke up so they'd know what to charge him with.
My other problem was with Sophie. How can a friend go from helping you get out of an abusive relationship to blaming you for the abuse? She seemed to have had a huge change for like no reason.
My biggest problem of the entire book was the relationship with Josh. There was NO build-up at all between the two of them. This was unrealistic to me, because Bree was fresh out of an abusive relationship, and yet she was willing to trust this guy she met for maybe an hour? There was one mention of counseling, but you would think she'd need so much more. There needed to be build-up for this relationship, how Josh got her to trust him. Sorry, but helping someone move in isn't going to get me to do the things Bree did. And the ending stuff with Josh? Sorry, I would have walked given what I'd been through.

The story was just way too rushed. Bree got over the abuse way too quickly. I'm all for moving forward, but this happened in a matter of months? And the relationship with Josh took place in hours? Bree comes off as being emotionless. She's an empty shell of a person, because if something that traumatic happened to me, I know I wouldn't be so willing to trust and forgive. None. This was beyond a fairy tale.

The only good thing about the book, in my opinion, is the "You can get help for domestic abuse" blurb at the back of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wowwww July 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was so much better then I expected! Let me start by saying poor Bree. The girl gets put through so much yet still finds the strength to go on & be an Amazing person. I was so happy when she met Josh & Eric and just knew that they'd be part of the semi happy ending she deserves. Great job Ella, I love your writing style & your characters. I cannot wait to read about Eric & Lena

Wow...that's all a girl can say. July of 2013 I decided to hit publish on a little story called Save. Little did I know what would happen next. I started to get mail...Facebook and Twitter requests. To say I was floored is an understatement. All of the sudden I was thrown into the world of a dream I always be a writer. I'm attending book signings. And, I'm autographing my books. It's surreal. Really. I'm so touched by the welcoming response. More than anything, I am humbled by the thought that you...yes you...downloaded my work and liked it. Sure, I can't please everyone. That being said, the fact that you enjoyed my story/stories means so much more to me. I wish I could hang out with each and every one of you and make you understand what this all means to me. For now...I will say 'Thank you'. And, I will do my best to keep knocking out books as long as you keep reading them.
