I was quite amazed to see this cd with no reviews. IMO this band of Maori players from New Zealand is the best reggae outfit playing today, especially since they no longer play much reggae in the Caribbean, preferring the derivative reggaeton. Katchafire is pure roots reggae. And Say What You're Thinking is a perfect representation of what they do best. Their call and response harmonies and sophisticated rhythms recall Steel Pulse at their raw best. This cd is little faster paced than their previous two albums, and more mature and accomplished. Everything here is watertight. This is a great family band (many in the band are related) who pack arenas and stadiums throughout the Pacific with tens of thousands of fans, and then play to 1000 in California. They are in constant radio rotation in Hawaii, Japan, and Australia/NZ. We Americans need to discover this band and give them their due!

No two ways about it, this crew from New Zealand know how to do their thing.
Beautiful harmonies, funky keyboards, thickly grooving basslines, sweet horns, drums that get your head bopping...what else can I add to entice you into getting this album? If you're into roots reggae, do not meander; BUY THIS ALBUM!!!! |
